OPTIMIZATION OF PLASMA-ASSISTED DESORPTION/IONIZATIONMASS SPECTROMETRY FOR ANALYSIS OF IBUPROFEN
...Show More Authors

In medical practice, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are often used to treat osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Ibuprofen is a well-known NSAID, analgesic, and antipyretic medication. This chemical is an active ingredient of several oral medications that are offered in tablet, gel pellet, and syrup forms and has higher efficacy, tolerance, and side effect rates than other compounds, including pyrazolone derivatives. We present a unique plasma-assisted desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (PADI-MS) approach for improving pharmaceutically important solids using an ibuprofen tablet as a model solid sample. The goal of the study is to create an innovative mass spectrometric method that could be used for quick and accurate analysis in the development of pharmaceutically relevant compounds. Sniffer tubes were used to route sample ions into a single quadrupole MS, with each acquisition lasting for 1 minute. Without any prior preparation, samples of ibuprofen tablets were directly exposed to PADI plasma for one minute at an atmosphere pressure. The approach is rapid, easy to use, and needs little to no sample preparation. In this study, the settings were improved by optimization of several parameters, such as plasma power, plasma-to-sample distance, and inner/outer flows of helium carrier gas, which were found to be 8 W, 2 mm, and 284 mL/min, respectively. The PADI-MS method provides a real-time information about structural features on the compounds. Ibuprofen tablets were used as a paradigm for pharmaceutically significant materials and direct PADI-MS analysis without a preliminary sample -treatment appeared to be successful: according to PADI-MS data a medication can be examined after one minute of plasma exposure.

Charge Transport in Magnetized Plasma
...Show More Authors

The plasma source can restrict the motion of charges that are localizing in the non equilibrium distribution of charge energy and reducing the electrons transport across magnetic field . The electrons & ions motion are controlled by ambipolar electric field and charge–atom collision . the source density for a given electron temperature and a given ion are considered to evaluate the diffusion coefficient . the ambipolar diffusion coefficient and the cross field diffusion coefficient for charge transfer are calculated through magnetized plasma in a uniform magnetic field , and an approximation ambipolar diffusion coefficient is evaluated. The result, showes how the diffusion process is gradually im

Optimization of Horizontal Well Location and Completion to Improve Oil Recovery for an Iraqi Field
...Show More Authors

Exploitation of mature oil fields around the world has forced researchers to develop new ways to optimize reservoir performance from such reservoirs. To achieve that, drilling horizontal wells is an effective method. The effectiveness of this kind of wells is to increase oil withdrawal. The objective of this study is to optimize the location, design, and completion of a new horizontal well as an oil producer to improve oil recovery in a real field located in Iraq. “A” is an oil and gas condensate field located in the Northeast of Iraq. From field production history, it is realized the difficulty to control gas and water production in this kind of complex carbonate reservoir with vertical producer wells. In this study, a horizont

Optical emission spectroscopy for studying the exploding copper wire plasma parameters in distilled water
...Show More Authors

This work aims to study the exploding copper wire plasma parameters by optical emission spectroscopy. The emission spectra of the copper plasma have been recorded and analyzed The plasma electron temperature (Te), was calculated by Boltzmann plot, and the electron density (ne) calculated by using Stark broadening method for different copper wire diameter (0.18, 0.24 and 0.3 mm) and current
of 75A in distilled water. The hydrogen (Hα line) 656.279 nm was used to calculate the electron density for different wire diameters by Stark broadening. It was found that the electron density ne decrease from 22.4×1016 cm-3 to 17×1016 cm-3 with increasing wire diameter from 0.18 mm to 0.3 mm while the electron temperatures increase from 0.741 to

Numerical Simulation of Gas Lift Optimization Using Artificial Intelligence for a Middle Eastern Oil Field
...Show More Authors
Abstract
Artificial lift techniques are a highly effective solution to aid the deterioration of the production especially for mature oil fields, gas lift is one of the oldest and most applied artificial lift methods especially for large oil fields, the gas that is required for injection is quite scarce and expensive resource, optimally allocating the injection rate in each well is a high importance task and not easily applicable. Conventional methods faced some major problems in solving this problem in a network with large number of wells, multi-constrains, multi-objectives, and limited amount of gas. This paper focuses on utilizing the Genetic Algorithm (GA) as a gas lift optimization algorit
... Show More

Mass stopping power of alpha particles in liquid water and some gases
...Show More Authors

The interaction of charged particles with the chemical elements involved in the synthesis of human tissues is one of the modern techniques in radiation therapy. One of these charged particles are alpha particles, where recent studies have confirmed their ability to generate radiation in a highly toxic localized manner because of its high ionization and short its range. In this work, We focused our study on the interaction of alpha particles with liquid water; since the water represents over 80% of the most-soft tissues, as well as, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen ,because they are key chemical elements involved in the synthesis of most human tissues. The mass stopping powers of alpha particle with HଶO , COଶ, Oଶ, Hଶ and Nଶhave

Microdebrider-assisted turbinoplasty versus submucosal diathermy in treatment of inferior turbinate hypertrophy
...Show More Authors

The surgical treatment of inferior turbinate hypertrophy (ITH) is challenging. Submucosal diathermy (SMD) is a well-known surgical procedure used for the treatment of ITH, microdebrider-assisted rhinoplasty (MAT) is relatively a newer technique used in the management of ITH. To evaluate the effect of MAT on inferior turbinate size and nasal airway patency in patients with bilateral ITH in comparison to SMD. Seventy-one patients presented with nasal obstruction due to bilateral ITH were allocated into two groups, group a (35 patients) were subjected to SMD and 36 patients in group B were subjected to MAT. All the patients had been sent to CT scan pre-operatively and at the third postoperative month to measure the cross-sectional areas

Mass Transfer Correlations for a Rotating Cylinder Electrode under lsothermal and Controlled Heat Transfer Condition
...Show More Authors

Mass transfer correlations for iron rotating cylinder electrode in chloride/sulphate solution, under isothermal and
controlled heat transfer conditions, were derived. Limiting current density values for the oxygen reduction reaction from
potentiostatic experiments at different bulk temperatures and various turbulent flow rates, under isothermal and heat
transfer conditions, were used for such derivation. The corelations were analogous to that obtained by Eisenberg et all
and other workers.
