The current work utilizes the peel and pulp of the Iraqi eggplant to remove Alizarin Red S dye (ARS) from an aqueous solution. The isotherms of adsorption were studied and the factors that the effect them: temperature, the effect of surface nature and effect of ionic strength. The isotherms of adsorption of ARS on the peel were found obey the Freundlich, equation, but the isotherms of adsorption on the pulp were found to obey the Langmuir equation. At different temperatures, the adsorption process was studied, and it was found that when the temperature decreased, the adsorption increased. Based on the data we obtained in practice, the thermodynamic functions (∆H, ∆G, ∆S) were calculated as the process was exothermic, spontaneous, and more regular. The results showed that the effect of ionic strength (the presence of sodium chloride salt) was positive on the adsorption process for both surfaces. It was found that the nature of the surface has an effect on the adsorption process, as it was found that adsorption on the surface of the peels is more effective than on the surface of the pulp.
Abstract This study investigated the treatment of textile wastewater contaminated with Acid Black 210 dye (AB210) using zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) through adsorption and photocatalytic techniques. ZnO NPs were synthesized using a green synthesis process involving eucalyptus leaves as reducing and capping agents. The structure and particle size of the nanoparticles have been investigated by XRD spectrum. The results exhibit the polycrystalline nature of the material with a size around (17-19 nm). FESEM analysis showed that using different extracts as a reduction and capping agent might affect the shape of nanoparticles such as forming of round, polygon and irregular shapes under the same conditions. The photo catalyst activity of the prepared NPs in the degradation of MB dye has been investigated. the results showed a good efficiency reached to 91%, 88% and 80%.
Herein, a biocomposite of crosslinked chitosan polyethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (CS-PEDGE), montmorillonite (MMT), and foodgrade algae (FGA) was successfully prepared by a hydrothermal technique. The sample consisted of (60) students from one of the middle schools in Baghdad's governorate. The experimental group and control group consisted of 30 students for each group, the research tool was the life skills scale composed of (78) items. The scale proved its validity and reliability, which was found to be (0.85). The results showed a statistically significant difference in life skills between the two groups of research in favor of the experimental group, which studied the educational design according to models of constructivism theory compared to the usual method of teaching.
