Shear bond strength of stainless steel brackets bonded to porcelain surface treated with 1.23% acidulated phosphate fluoride gel compared to hydro fluoric acid with silane coupling agent (In vitro comparative study)
...Show More Authors

Background: With the increasing demands for adult orthodontics, a growing need arises to bond attachments to porcelain surfaces. Optimal adhesion to porcelain surface should allow orthodontic treatment without bond failure but not jeopardize porcelain integrity after debonding. The present study was carried out to compare the shear bond strength of metal bracket bonded to porcelain surface prepared by two mechanical treatments and by using different etching systems (Hydrofluoric acid 9% and acidulated phosphate fluoride 1.23%). Materials and Methods: The samples were comprised of 60 models (28mm *15mm*28mm) of metal fused to porcelain (feldspathic porcelain). They were divided as the following: group I (control): the porcelain surface left u

Influence of Fatty Acid Desaturase Enzyme-1 Gene (FADS-1) Polymorphism on Serum Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids Levels, Desaturase Enzymes, Lipid Profile, and Glycemic Control Parameters in Newly Diagnosed Diabetic Mellitus Patients
...Show More Authors

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a prevalent metabolic disorder caused by impaired insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells and insulin resistance in target tissues. Genome-wide association studies have identified over 50 genetic variants linked to T2DM, including polymorphisms associated with the disease. This study investigates the impact of the FADS1 (rs174547) polymorphism in T2DM patients compared to healthy controls and examines serum levels of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, as well as D5D and D6D enzyme levels and activity. This case–control study included 120 participants: 60 newly diagnosed T2DM patients and 60 apparently healthy controls matched for age, sex, and other sociodemographic factors. Polyunsaturated fatt

Effect of Thermal Neutron Radiation Dose on Density of Local and Extended Energy States in Se<inf>55</inf>S<inf>20</inf>Sb<inf>15</inf>Sn<inf>10</inf> Alloy
...Show More Authors

Four samples of the Se55S20Sb15Sn10 alloy were prepared using the melting point method. Samples B, C and D were irradiated with (6.04×1010, 12.08×1010 and 18.12×1010 (n.cm-2s -1 ) of thermal neutron beam from a neutron source (241Am-9Be) respectively, while sample A was left not irradiated. The electrical properties were assessed both before and after the radiation. All irradiated and non-irradiated samples show three conduction mechanisms, at low temperatures, electrical conductivity is achieved by electron hopping between local states near the Fermi level. At intermediate temperatures, conduction occurs by the jumping of electrons between local states at band tails. At high temperatures, electrons transfer between extended stat

Studies on the interaction and effect of Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II),Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) mixed- ligand complexes of cephalexin mono hydrate and furan-2-carboxylic acid to different DNA sources

To evaluate the Interaction of Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II),Cu(II), Zn(II) And Cd(II) Mixed- Ligand Complexes of cephalexin mono hydrate (antibiotics) And Furan-2-Carboxylic Acid To The Different DNA Sources. All the metal complexes were observed to cleave the DNA. A difference in the bands of complexes .The cleavage efficiency of the complexes compared with that of the control is due to their efficient DNA-binding ability and the other factors like solubility and bond length between the metal and ligand may also increase the DNA-binding ability. The ligands (Cephalexin mono hydrate (antibiotics) and Furan-2- Carboxylic acid and there newly synthesized metal complexes shows good antimicrobial activities and Binding DNA , thus, can be used

Innovative various Schiff bases and their Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) and Hg(II)  compounds made by the condensation of 4-amino antipyrine with derived aminobenzoic acid (2-aminobenzoic acid, 3-aminobenzoic acid, and 4-aminobenzoic acid ) have been prepared by conventional approaches. These complexes were described by magnetic sensibility analysis, FT-IR spectra, and molar-conductance and elemental analysis. Analytical values appeared which the mixed-ligand complexes presented ratio about 2:1 (ligand: metal) with the chelation 4 or 6. The prepared compounds offered a good effect on the organisms; bacteria Staphylococcus-aurous, Escherichia-coli and fungi C. albicans, A. niger. Also, the biological products signalize which the mixed compl

This study aimed to study the inhibition activity of purified bacteriocin produced from the local isolation Lactococcuslactis ssp. lactis against pathogenic bacteria species isolated from clinical samples in some hospitals Baghdad city. Screening of L. lactis ssp. Lactis and isolated from the intestines fish and raw milk was performed in well diffusion method. The results showed that L. lactis ssp. lactis (Lc4) was the most efficient isolate in producing the bacteriocin as well observed inhibitory activity the increased that companied with the concentration, the concentration of the twice filtrate was better in obtaining higher inhibition diameters compared to the one-fold concentration. The non-linear components has been emphasized for its multiple applications in rewritable recording and data storage devices. Chalcogenide glasses materials are promising due to their high refractive index. In this paper, alloys for Ge30Te70-xSbxglasses semiconductor (where x =0.0, 5, 10, 15 and 20) will be fabricated by melt quenching method. The effect of partial substitution on DC electric power parameters, and its knowledge of electrical conduction mechanisms, were investigated to determine the effect of Antimony on the density of extended states, local states, and in Fermi energy states. The electrical measurements revealed the existence of three conduction mechanis
