Assessment of Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein -1 and Fertility Hormones in Iraqi Women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
...Show More Authors

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a well-known endocrinopathy and one of the most frequent endocrine-reproductive-metabolic syndromes in women, which can result in reduced fertility. While the actual cause is unknown, PCOS is regarded as a complicated genetic characteristic with a great degree of variability. Moreover, hormones and immune cells, including both innate and acquired immune cells, are thought to interact in PCOS. Chronic low-grade inflammation raises the risk of autoimmune disease. The study's purpose is to investigate the chemokine monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) and fertility hormones in samples of women patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in the City of Medicine. Sixty PCOS women comprise 30 heal

   Endometriosis, an autoimmune disease is among one of the most challenging of the 21 st century that affects women in reproductive age. The aim of the present study is to highlight the role of  IL-36γ, and its relationship with other cytokines (Ang-2 and TNF-α) in the pathogenesis of endometriosis . Seventy five (75) consecutive women patient of reproductive age (25-40) years were enrolled in this study , Patients were divided into three groups , group 1 (G1) included (25) newly diagnosed endometriotic patients , that were not given any treatment related to Gynecology or anti-inflammatory medications . A comparative study of retinol-binding protein-4 and progranulin in iraqi women with thyroid disorder
...Show More Authors

Thyroid hormones (TH) regulate the metabolic processes required for normal development and growth; also, to organizemetabolism in adults, any defect in thyroid function leads to abnormality in thyroid hormones level. The current study hasbeen designed to find the relationship between retinol-binding protein-4 and progranulin in the serum of Iraqi women withhypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, also, to study whether these patients are exposed to a risk of developing diabetes mellitus,and PGRN may be a biomarker in detection early stage of diabetes mellitus.Materials and Methods: in this study, serum samples were obtained from 50 Iraqis women patients, [25 patients withhypothyroidism (G2) and 25 patients with hyperthyroidism (G3)] in addition

A Comparative Study Between The Levels of Adropin in Iraqi Women with Metabolic Syndrome and Diabetes
...Show More Authors

By measuring Adropin, fasting blood glucose (FBG), cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) in the sera of Iraqi patients with MetS and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), the current study was designed to compare some crucial markers in metabolic syndrome (MetS) sera and diabetic patients (T2DM) with control. Twenty female subjects were divided into three groups: group I=40 with MetS and group II=40 with T2DM, and 40 healthy subjects were employed as a control group. Compared to the control group, Adropin levels in the Mets group and T2DM group decreased significantly (p < 0.05). In contrast, none of the patient groups (MetS and T2DM)

Evaluation of treatment of intra-bony defects with a mixture of ?-tricalcium phosphate - hydroxyapatite granules and oily calcium hydroxide suspension
...Show More Authors

Background: An oily calcium hydroxide formulation proved over the last years to be highly efficient in promoting bone regeneration in closed defects as periapical lesions, cysts, or post-extraction defects. The aim of the present study is the assessment of the outcome of treatment of deep intrabony periodontal defects with an Open Flap Debridement) (OFD) + combination of {(30% Hydroxyapatite HAp + 70% ?-Tricalcium Phosphate granules mixed with an Oily Calcium Hydroxide Suspension (OCHS )} and compare the results with {(OFD) alone)}. The combination of OCHS& TCP was used in humans with a sort of positive results, and more conduction of studies was recommended. Material and method: The sample of this study composed of sixteen patients;

Background: Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis (RAS) is the most common painful oral mucosal disease, affecting approximately 20% of the population. RAS presents with a wide spectrum of severity ranging from a minor nuisance to complete debility. Many of factors thought to have been involved in its etiology; that might have at the same time a direct or indirect impact upon oxidant/antioxidant system and trigger free radicals production. The aim of this study was to determine the possible association of oxidant/total antioxidant status and recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS). Subjects, materials and methods: The study consisted of thirty patients with recurrent aphthous stomatitis and thirty healthy controls from which saliva and blood samples we

           Vitamin E, having the well known antioxidant activity  through scavenging free radicals Ùˆ it occurs in several  isomeric forms , these isomers have relatively different functions . One of these actions is related to its ability to inhibit platelets aggregation and hence thrombosis. The present study included a total number of apparently healthy  62 males . 11of them served as standard group , treated  with 100 mg aspirin /day for more than one month . Another 31 subjects were randomly grouped into 5 groups that received different daily doses of α – tocopherol : 400 IU , 800 IU and 1200 IU for  2-6 months.The remainder ( 20 ) subjects served

The aim of this study was intended to study the effect of rifampicin in the level of thyroid's gland hormones (T4 ØŒT3) and thyroid -stimulating hormone (TSH) in rabbits.            Eight male rabbits were used through out this study, their weights were measured before the starting of the experiment. Animals were divided into two groups (each group contains 4 rabbits), the first group was administrated daily with 15 mg/Kg physiological normal saline for 35 days and used as a control group, while the second group was administrated with 15 mg /Kg daily for 35 day of rifampicin capsule 300 mg.       At the end of the experiment, all of animal groups were
