Hashimoto Thyroiditis (HT) is the most common autoimmune thyroid disease and the commonest cause ofhypothyroidism. C-reactive protein (CRP) is synthesized in hepatocyte in response to autoimmune disorders;strongly induced by IL-6. This study aimed to estimate serum IL-6 and CRP levels in autoimmune and non-autoimmune hypothyroidism. The present study included 60 Iraqi female hypothyroid patients divided to 30autoimmune and 30 non-autoimmune, with age ranged between 24-50 years and 30 healthy controls withage ranged between 27-52 years. Serum samples were collected from study groups. The levels of thyroidhormones (TSH, T4 and T3) were determined by using automated Chemiluminescence Immunoassay (CLIA)analysis system. Detection the levels of thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPO-Ab), thyroglobulin antibody (Tg-Ab) and Interluekin-6 by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits. While latex agglutinationslide test used for determination the presence of serum CRP. The current results revealed that serum TSH,TPO-Ab, Tg-Ab, IL-6 levels and CRP positive ratio are increased significantly (P<0.01) in autoimmunehypothyroid group as compared with non- autoimmune hypothyroid group and control group. But there areno significant differences (p˃0.05) between non- autoimmune hypothyroid patient and control in the levelof TSH, T4, T3, TPO-Ab, Tg-Ab, IL-6. Only the positive ratio of CRP is elevated significantly than ratio incontrol. This study showed significant increase (P<0.01) in IL-6 level and CRP positive ratio in autoimmunehypothyroidism, that indicates to the effect of autoimmune thyroid disease on inflammatory markers IL-6and CRP in the serum; and increase CRP positive ratio in non-autoimmune hypothyroidism suggested thealteration in the levels of inflammatory marker has been independent from etiology of thyroid disease.

The polymorphism of IL-4 -590 (C>T) gene, which amplified by using amplification refractory mutation system (ARMS-PCR) was showed high percentage of C allele frequency in T1D patients sample in comparison with T allele frequency, and the C allele revealed as etiological faction with risk by having T1D disease, whereas the T allele showed high frequency from the C allele frequency in control sample, and the T allele revealed as preventive faction from infection by this disease.
