Genetic Polymorphism of Iraqi Leishmania tropica Isolates Based on HSP70Gene
...Show More Authors

Leishmaniasis is one of the important parasitic diseases, affecting mainly low social class people indeveloping countries, and is more prevalent and endemic in the tropical and subtropical regions of old worldand new world. Despite ofbroad distribution in Iraq, little known about the geneticcharacteristics of thecausative agents. So this study was aimed to evaluate the genetic varietyoftwo IraqiLeishmaniatropicaisolatesbased on heat shock protein gene sequence 70 (HSP70) in comparison with universal isolates recordedsequences data. After amplification and sequencing of HSP70 gene, the obtainedresults were alignment alongwith homologous Leishmania sequences retrieved from NCBI by using BLAST. The analysis results showedpresence of particular gene mutations including substitution and insertion at 93% identity with the HSP70 gene. So,indicate the prescient of numeric variation of local isolate and this is the first step toward future phylogenicstudy to understand genomic diversity across Leishmania tropica parasite

Detection of mexB Multidrug Efflux Gene in Some Local Isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa
...Show More Authors

According to the prevalence of multidrug resistance bacteria, especially Pseudomonas aeruginosa, in which the essential mechanism of drug resistance is the ability to possess an efflux pump by which extrusion of antimicrobial agents usually occurs, this study aims to detect the presence of mexB multidrug efflux gene in some local isolates of this bacteria that show resistance towards three antibiotics, out of five. Sensitivity test to antibiotics was performed on all isolates by using meropenem (10μg/disc), imipenem (10μg/disc), amikacin (30 μg/disc), ciprofloxacin (5μg/disc) and ceftazidime (30 μg/disc). Conventional PCR results showed the presence of mexB gene (244bp) in four isolates out of ten (40%). In addition,25, 50μg/ml of cur

Evaluation of Antibacterial Activity of Laurus nobilis Leaves Extract against Escherichia coli Isolates
...Show More Authors

The aim of this study is to evaluating the antibacterial activity of Laurus nobilis leaves extract on E. coli isolates. Maceration and Soxhlet apparatus were used to prepare aqueous and methanolic extracts; total phenolic content and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) were conducted to determine the active compounds in the extracts. The results showed that both Laurus nobilis methanolic and aqueous extracts have a noticeable effect on scavenging free radicals. Free radical scavenging activity. The total phenolic contents were 28.60 ±0.12 and 16.58 ±0.11mg/g in 50 mg/ml, in methanolic and aqueous extracts respectively. The antibacterial activity of Laurus nobilis leaves extracts showed that the methanolic extract was more effective than

Evaluation of the effectiveness of some mycorrhizal fungi isolates against charcoal rot disease
...Show More Authors
Abstract
<title>Background

The sunflower plants are attacked by serious seed and soil-borne pathogens including charcoal rot disease that caused by Macrophomina phaseolina. This disease has serious damages to sunflower crop. This study aimed to assess the efficacy of Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus against charcoal rot disease as fungicide alternative.

Results

Morphological and molecular identification was done, using universal primers for molecular identification. Finally, a greenhouse experiment was conducted, and

Optimizing genetic prediction: Define-by-run DL approach in DNA sequencing
...Show More Authors

Abstract: The utility of DNA sequencing in diagnosing and prognosis of diseases is vital for assessing the risk of genetic disorders, particularly for asymptomatic individuals with a genetic predisposition. Such diagnostic approaches are integral in guiding health and lifestyle decisions and preparing families with the necessary foreknowledge to anticipate potential genetic abnormalities. The present study explores implementing a define-by-run deep learning (DL) model optimized using the Tree-structured Parzen estimator algorithm to enhance the precision of genetic diagnostic tools. Unlike conventional models, the define-by-run model bolsters accuracy through dynamic adaptation to data during the learning process and iterative optimization

Detection of CTX-M-type ESBLs from Escherichia coli Clinical Isolates from a Tertiary Hospital, Malaysia
...Show More Authors

The present study aims to detect CTX-M-type ESBL from Escherichia coli clinical isolates and to analyze their antibotic susceptibility patterns. One hundred of E. coli isolates were collected from different clinical samples from a tertiary hospital. ESBL positivity was determined by the disk diffusion method. PCR used for amplification of CTX-M-type ESBL produced by E. coli. Out of 100 E. coli isolates, twenty-four isolates (24%) were ESBL-producers. E. coli isolated from pus was the most frequent clinical specimen that produced ESBL (41.66%) followed by urine (34.21%), respiratory (22.23%), and blood (19.05%).  After PCR amplification of these 24 isolates, 10 (41.66%) isolates were found to possess CTX-M genes. The CTX-M type ESBL

Antibacterial action of AgNPs produced from different isolates of Gram positive and Gram-negative bacteria on biofilm of Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from RTI
...Show More Authors

Introduction and Aim: Klebsiella pneumoniae is a Gram-negative bacterium responsible for a wide range of infections, including respiratory tract infections (RTIs). This research was aimed to study the antibacterial and anti-biofilm effect of AgNPs produced by Gram positive and negative bacteria on RTIs associated with K. pneumoniae.   Materials and Methods: The biofilm formation of K.  pneumoniae was determined by tube method qualitatively from select bacterial species characterized by UV-Visible spectroscopy. The antibacterial susceptibility of the bacteria AgNPs was tested for their antibacterial and antibiofilm activity on a clinical isolate of K. pneumoniae.   Results: K. pneumoniae isolated from RTIs were strong biofilm prod

Vancomycin resistance among methicillin resistant Saphylococcus Aureus isolates from general hospitals
...Show More Authors

Background: Multidrug resistant methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a major cause of nosocomial and community acquired infections. The glycopeptides vancomycin has been proposed as the drug of choice for treating such infections; this lead to the emergence of vancomycin intermediate sensitive S. aureus (VISA) and vancomycin resistant S.aureus (VRSA).Objectives: To identify the vancomycin resistance both phenotypically and genotypically among MRSA isolates from different hospitals and to determine the sensitivity of these isolates to different antimicrobial agents. Methods: A total of 204 S. aureus isola
