Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease initiated by dysbiotic biofilms and sustained by an altered host response, resulting in progressive destruction of the tooth-supporting tissues. Alongside immune-mediated damage, epithelial–mesenchymal transition has been proposed as a contributing mechanism in gingival barrier disruption and periodontal tissue remodeling. This narrative review examines the roles of the EMT-related transcription factors Snail1 and Twist1 in periodontitis, with particular focus on their involvement in epithelial junction loss, mesenchymal activation, and disease-associated tissue change. Relevant literature was identified through targeted searches of PubMed/MEDLINE and Google Scholar using terms related to periodontitis, gingival epithelium, EMT, Snail, and Twist, while selected non-periodontal studies were used only for mechanistic context where direct evidence was limited. Current findings suggest that periodontal disease is commonly associated with reduced epithelial adhesion markers and increased mesenchymal-associated markers, with Snail1 appearing more closely linked to epithelial repression and Twist1 to motility and matrix remodeling. However, the evidence remains largely preclinical or associative. Overall, Snail1 and Twist1 may participate in EMT-like remodeling in periodontitis, but periodontal-specific mechanistic and functional studies are still needed to clarify causality and clinical relevance.
This study investigates the performance of granular dead anaerobic sludge (GDAS) bio-sorbent as permeable reactive barrier in removing phenol from a simulated contaminated shallow groundwater. Batch tests have been performed to characterize the equilibrium sorption properties of the GDAS and sandy soil in phenol-containing aqueous solutions. The results of GDAS tests proved that the best values of operating parameters, which achieve the maximum removal efficiency of phenol (=85%), at equilibrium contact time (=3 hr), initial pH of the solution (=5), initial phenol concentration (=50 mg/l), GDAS dosage (=0.5 g/100 ml), and agitation speed (=250 rpm). Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis proved that the carboxylic acid, aromatic, alk

Three equations were proposed: the first equation considers the number of rebound hummer only, the second equation consider the ultrasonic pulse velocity only, and the third equation combines the number of rebound hummer and the ultrasonic pulse velocity. The proposed equations were derived from non-linear regression analysis and they were calibrated with the test results of 372 concrete specimens compiled from the literature. The performance of the proposed equations was tested by comparing their strength estimations with those of related existing equations from literature. Comparis

in this paper, we study and investigate a simple donor-acceptor model for charge transfer formation using a quantum transition theory. The transfer parameters which enhanced the charge transfer and the rate of the charge transfer have been calculated. Then, we study the net charge transfer through interface of Cu/F8 contact devices and evaluate all transfer coefficients. The charge transfer rate of transfer processes is found to be dominated in the low orientation free energy and increased a little in decreased potential at interface comparison to the high potential at interface. The increased transition energy results in increasing the orientation of Cu to F8. The transfer in the system was more active when the system has large driving for
