Background: Neonatal macrosomia is defined as a birth weight of more than 4000 g. Significant maternal and neonatal complications can result from the birth of macrosomic infants like hypoglycemia and birth injuries.Objectives: To determine the frequency of hypoglycemia in neonates with macrosomia in Amarah, IraqMethods: The study involved 146 macrosomic newborn neonates delivered in 2 maternity hospitals in Amarah, Iraq during a period from June 2011 to June 2014.Results: Hypoglycemia was observed in 16% of neonates affected by macrosomia. During period from September 2012 to August 2013, concentration of total Trihalomethanes (TTHMs) was assessed in drinking water in Al-Dora and Al-Rasheed purification plants. 216 samples were collected from final basins of chlorination in purification plants and from sites that distributed among residential areas fed by the project. TTHMs concentration did not exceed (0.15 ppm) which is the maximum limits according to Iraqi standard specification for drinking water. The highest value was in July (0.12 ppm) and the lowest value was in November (0.01 ppm).

The Absolute Second Horizontal Gradient (ASHG) method is used to locate the horizontal reference location of the body, while its amplitude could be used to define body corner depth. Intelligent use of the ASHG method could help in differentiating between basin and intrusion structures from their gravity effect and could facilitate the interpretation in forward modeling and constrain inversion modeling to maximum limit.
