The aim of this study is to evaluating the antibacterial activity of Laurus nobilis leaves extract in hospital environment isolates. Maceration and Soxhlet apparatus were used to prepare aqueous and methanolic extracts. The total phenolic content and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) were conducted to determine the active compounds in the extracts. The results showed that the methanolic and aqueous extracts contain four flavonoids derivatives (kaempferol, luteolin, quercetin and Rutin) were identified on the basis of matching retention time with the standards. The total phenolic contents were 56.81 and 81.56 mg/g in 50 mg/ml, in aqueous and methanolic extracts respectively. The antibacterial activity of Laurus nobilis leaves extracts showed that the methanolic extract was more effective than aqueous extract in concentration 64mg/ml. Moreover, the result of the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) showed that the methanolic extract on P. aeruginosa isolates was 32 mg\ml, while the MIC values of aqueous extract were 64 and128 mg\ml.

Fuzzy measures are considered important tools to solve many environmental problems. Water pollution is one of the environmental problems, which has negatively effect on the health of consumers. In this paper, a mathematical model is proposed to evaluate water quality in the distribution networks of Baghdad city. Fuzzy logic and fuzzy measures have been applied to evaluate water quality with respect to chemical and microbiological contaminants. In this study, In2O3 was prepared by Solvothermal technique in autoclave device, which is a simple and inexpensive technique to indicate the best condition. The reaction took place between indium chloride and urea. In(OH)3 as-prepared annealing at 100°C and convert to In2O3 at annealing temperatures 300, 500, 700 °C for 90 min .The physical properties of nanoparticles were characterized by XRD, SEM, AFM, UV/Visible and FTIR spectroscopy measurements. Show MoreThe polymeric hydrogels composed of poly vinyl alcohol (m.wt 72000) and glutaraldehyde(5%,8% and 10%) , have been thermally prepared for the purpose of studying their swelling and drug release behavior . The swelling ratio was measured for all the hydrogel samples at 37°C, in three different media pH (1.2, 4.7 and 6.8) as a function of time. The results show that the maximum swelling ratios were arranged as follows :pH =6.8 > pH =4.7 > pH =1.2 hydrogels cross linked PVA showed a typical pH responsive behavior such as high pH has maximum swelling while low pH shows minimum swelling.
