Evaluation of the Efficacy of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi in Enhancing Resistance of Lycopersicon esculentum Roots Against Fusarium oxysporum Wilt Disease
...Show More Authors

The objective of this investigation was to study the effects of amixture of three arbuscular mycorrhizal species : Glomus etunicatum , G. leptotichum and Rhizophagus intraradices on the induced resistance of Lycopersicon esculentum roots infected with Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.lycopersici which is causal agent of wilt in the presence of organic matter peatmose (O). The work was achieved in aplastic house ( Shed) using pot culture planted for 10 weeks. Results indicated significant increase of all mycorrhizal colonization parameters ( F% , M% , m% , a% , A% ) . Highest percentage of mycorrhization was detected in roots infected with the pathogen 4 weeks after mycorrhizal colonization . On the other hand least colonization was shown in the dual inoculation treatment when both organisms were added together at the beginning of plantation . Mycorrhization resulted in significant reduction of disease severity in all treatments compared to the control ones. , and the trio treatment (O×F.o.l.×M) showed the highest reduction in percentage of disease severity after 4 weeks of infection with the pathogen . Moreover , mycorrhizal colonization significantly increase the activity of antioxidant enzymes tested ( SOD , POD , CAT , PAL , PPO , GPOX ) in infected roots , Highest enzymes activity was recorded in dual treatments ( F.o.l. × M ) followed by the trio treatment (O×F.o.l.×M) . On the other hand all treatments amended with organic matter resultrd in signifant reduction off all enzymes activity tested.

In vitro Scavenging Activity of Rosemary Extract and its Activity Against Some Pathogenic Microorganisms
...Show More Authors

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) is one of the most economically important species of the family Lamiaceae. Rosemary extract was examined by applying 2.2-diphenyl-1- picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical-scavenging assays. The result proved that rosemary extract had a higher antioxidant activity by absorption at a wavelength of 517a nm by using three different concentrations (0.5, 1.0 and 3) mg/ml which performed the absorbance at (2. 314, 0. 211 and 0.296) nm in comparison with control (21.8, 92.2 and 90) nm respectively. Results obtained using chemical detection of the phytochemicals indicated the presence of flavonoids, phenols, saponins, Steroids and cardiac in rosemary water extract. Water extracts of R. officinalis leaves were inves

Estimation of Some Biomarkers and Cholesterol / HDL Ratio to Predict the Risk of Cardiovascular Disease in Rheumatoid Arthritis
...Show More Authors

Rheumatoid arthritis (AR) is one of the chronic diseases resulting in many complications such as cardiovascular disease (CVD). Any change in the lipid profiles and myocardial markers indicates cardiovascular disease risk, so this study is designed to monitor the pattern of lipid profiles and myocardial markers in newly diagnosed RA patients. Blood samples were collected from 70 Iraqi patients newly diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (male and female) and 30 healthy served as control. These individuals were aged 35-65 years. The serum samples were obtained to determine myocardial markers; included troponin, creatinine kinase (CK), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase GOT; and lipid profiles; such as choleste

The Role of Neudesin as a Novel Biomarker – in Iraqi Patients with Parkinson's Disease and Osteoporosis
...Show More Authors

Neuron-derived neurotrophic factor [NENF], a human plasma neurotrophic factor, also increases neurotrophic activity in conjunction with Parkinson's disease-related proteins in Neudesin. Although Neudesin (neuron-derived neurotrophic secreted protein) is a member of the membrane-associated progesterone receptor (MAPR) protein subclass, it is not evolutionary related to the other members of the same family. The expression of Neudesin is found in both brain and spinal cord from embryonic stages to adulthood, as w Neudesin levels in Parkinson's patients with osteoporosis disease and Parkinson's patients without osteoporosis disease, as well as the relationship between Neudesin levels, Anthropometric and Clinical Features (Age, Gender, BMI) and

The level of IL-1?, IL-10 and IL-17A in Alzheimer's disease patients: Comparative study
...Show More Authors

The objective of this study is to evaluate the level of cytokines IL-1?, IL-10 and IL-17A in the serum of patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD), vascular dementia (VD) and down syndrome (DS). The results showed that Serum level of IL-1? was significantly increased in AD patients (3.79 ± 0.26 pg/ml) as compared with DS patients (2.78 ± 0.39 pg/ml) or controls (2.78 ± 0.22 pg/ml), while no significant difference was observed between AD and VD (3.25 ± 0.20 pg/ml) patients or between VD patients, DS patients and controls. The serum level of IL-10 was approximated in VD and DS patients and controls (3.39 ± 0.24, 2.77 ± 0.39 and 3.41 ± 0.35 pg/ml, respectively), but was significantly (P ? 0.05) increased in AD patients (5.73 ± 0.55 pg/ml

Improvement of Alert System against Tampering and Theft in Surveillance Cameras
...Show More Authors

Use of Surveillance cameras in houses and markets became common, that resulted to minimize theft and make it a difficult task because it let recording and viewing what is going around. The wide application of these cameras, pushed thieves to seek new ways for abolition of the surveillance system and digital recording of events, such as cutting the signal wire between the camera and Digital video recorder or changing the direction of the camera away from the focus spot or damaging the camera or steal the device which means the loss of the recorded media. This paper focuses on such abolitions and fixed it by suggesting a way to notify the administrator immediately and automatically by Email about any violation of the system using MATLAB, whic

A Study of the Effectiveness of Tin on the Thermal Conductivity Coefficient and Electrical Resistance of Se60Te40-xSnx Chalcogenide Glass
...Show More Authors

This research calculated the effect of partial replacement of Trillium with tin by weight ratios x=0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 of the weight of manufactured samples on the thermal conductivity coefficient of Se60Te40-xSnx chalcogenide glasses. The thermal conductivity coefficient of the samples was calculated using a disk- Lee. The results showed that increasing the concentration of tin improves the thermal insulation ability by decreasing the thermal conductivity value and then determining the optimal weight ratios at which a large thermal insulation is obtained.

The electrical resistivity as a function of temperature was studied. The electrical resistivity (rd.c) was calculated as a function of temperature for all

Prevalence of Quinolones Resistance Proteins Encoding Genes (qnr genes) and Co-Resistance with β-lactams among Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolates from Iraqi Patients
...Show More Authors

This study investigated the prevalence of quinolones resistance proteins encoding genes (qnr genes) and co-resistance for fluoroquinolones and β-lactams among clinical isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae.  Out of 150 clinical samples, 50 isolates of K. pneumoniae were identified according to morphological and biochemical properties. These isolates were collected from different clinical samples, including 15 (30%) urine, 12 (24%) blood, 9 (18%) sputum, 9 (18%) wound, and 5 (10%) burn. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) assay revealed that 15 (30%) of isolates were resistant to ciprofloxacin (≥4µg/ml), 11 (22%) of isolates were resistant to levofloxacin (≥8 µg/ml), 21 (42%) of isolates were re
