Two efficient methods for solving Schlömilch’s integral equation
...Show More Authors
Purpose

In this paper, the exact solutions of the Schlömilch’s integral equation and its linear and non-linear generalized formulas with application are solved by using two efficient iterative methods. The Schlömilch’s integral equations have many applications in atmospheric, terrestrial physics and ionospheric problems. They describe the density profile of electrons from the ionospheric for awry occurrence of the quasi-transverse approximations. The paper aims to discuss these issues.

Design/methodology/approach

First, the authors apply a regularization method combined with the standard homotopy analysis method to find the exact solutions for all forms of the Schlömilch’s integral equation. Second, the authors implement the regularization method with the variational iteration method for the same purpose. The effectiveness of the regularization-Homotopy method and the regularization-variational method is shown by using them for several illustrative examples, which have been solved by other authors using the so-called regularization-Adomian method.

Findings

The implementation of the two methods demonstrates the usefulness in finding exact solutions.

Practical implications

The authors have applied the developed methodology to the solution of the Rayleigh equation, which is an important equation in fluid dynamics and has a variety of applications in different fields of science and engineering. These include the analysis of batch distillation in chemistry, scattering of electromagnetic waves in physics, isotopic data in contaminant hydrogeology and others.

Originality/value

In this paper, two reliable methods have been implemented to solve several examples, where those examples represent the main types of the Schlömilch’s integral models. Each method has been accompanied with the use of the regularization method. This process constructs an efficient dealing to get the exact solutions of the linear and non-linear Schlömilch’s integral equation which is easy to implement. In addition to that, the accompanied regularization method with each of the two used methods proved its efficiency in handling many problems especially ill-posed problems, such as the Fredholm integral equation of the first kind.

Twitter Location-Based Data: Evaluating the Methods of Data Collection Provided by Twitter Api
...Show More Authors

Twitter data analysis is an emerging field of research that utilizes data collected from Twitter to address many issues such as disaster response, sentiment analysis, and demographic studies. The success of data analysis relies on collecting accurate and representative data of the studied group or phenomena to get the best results. Various twitter analysis applications rely on collecting the locations of the users sending the tweets, but this information is not always available. There are several attempts at estimating location based aspects of a tweet. However, there is a lack of attempts on investigating the data collection methods that are focused on location. In this paper, we investigate the two methods for obtaining location-based dat

Comparison of some robust methods to estimate parameters of partial least squares regression (PLSR)
...Show More Authors

The technology of reducing dimensions and choosing variables are very important topics in statistical analysis to multivariate. When two or more of the predictor variables are linked in the complete or incomplete regression relationships, a problem of multicollinearity are occurred which consist of the breach of one basic assumptions of the ordinary least squares method with incorrect estimates results.

There are several methods proposed to address this problem, including the partial least squares (PLS), used to reduce dimensional regression analysis. By using linear transformations that convert a set of variables associated with a high link to a set of new independent variables and unr

In this time, most researchers toward about preparation of compounds according to green chemistry. This research describes the preparation of 2-fluoro-5-(substituted benzylideneamino) benzonitrile under reflux and microwave methods. Six azomethine compounds (B1-6) were synthesized by two methods under reflux and assisted microwave with the comparison between the two methods. Reflux method was prepared of azomethine (B1-6) by reaction of 5-amino-2-fluorobenzonitrile with some aldehyde derivatives with (50–100) mL of absolute ethanol and some quantity of GAA and time is limited between (2–5) hours with a yield between (60–70) percent with recrystallization for appropriate solvents.   The general trend in Iraqi banks is focused towards the application of international financial reporting standards, especially the international financial reporting standard IFRS 9 “Financial Instruments”, in addition to the directives issued on the Central Bank of Iraq’s instructions for the year 2018 regarding the development of expected credit losses models, and not to adhere to a specific method for calculating these losses and authorizing the banks’ departments to adopt the method of calculating losses that suits the nature of the bank’s activity and to be consistent in its use from time to time. The research problem revolves around the different methodologies for calculatin

Influence of recycled concrete aggregate treatment methods on performance of sustainable warm mix asphalt
...Show More Authors

his study aimed to investigate the usability of Recycled Concrete Aggregate (RCA) in warm mix asphalt (WMA) as the implementation of sustainable construction technology. Five replacement rates (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%) were tested for the coarse fraction of virgin aggregate (VA) with 3 types of RCA: untreated RCA, HL-treated RCA, and HCL-treated RCA. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses were performed to investigate the surface morphology for both treated and untreated RCA. The optimum asphalt cement content for every substitution rate was determined using Marshall mix design method. Thereafter, asphalt concrete specimens were prepared using the optimum asphalt cement content, followed by the evaluation of their performance prope

Development and Validation of Spectrophotometric Methods for the Quantitative Determination of Doxycycline Hyclate in Pure Form and Pharmaceutical Formulations Using Flow‐Injection and Batch procedures: A Comparative Study
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Doxycycline hyclate is an antibiotic drug with a broad‐spectrum activity against a variety of gram‐positive and gram‐negative bacteria and is frequently used as a pharmacological agent and as an effector molecule in an inducible gene expression system. A sensitive, reliable and fast spectrophotometric method for the determination of doxycycline hyclate in pure and pharmaceutical formulations has been developed using flow injection analysis (FIA) and batch procedures. The proposed method is based on the reaction between the chromogenic reagent (V4+) and doxycycline hyclate in a neutral medium, resulting in the formation of a yellow compound that shows maximum absorbance at 3</p> ... An Evaluation of Ion Released from Two Brands of Brackets in Three Types of Mouthwashes
...Show More Authors

Background: Mouthwashes used widely as ancillary to mechanical oral hygiene methods. Little information provided about the effect of mouthwashes on ions released from orthodontic brackets. Therefore, the present study has been established to evaluate the effect of different mouthwashes on the corrosion resistance and the biocompatibility of two brands of brackets. Materials and Methods: Eighty premolar stainless steel brackets were used (40 brackets from each brand). They were subdivided into four subgroups (n=10) according to immersion media (deionized distilled water, Corsodyl, Listerine and Silca herb mouthwashes). Each bracket was stored in a closely packed glass tube filled with 15ml of the immersion media and incubated for 45 days at
