Social factors may affect the available sources of toxic substances and causes of poisoning, and these factors may change over time. Additionally, understanding the characteristics of poisoning cases is important for treating such patients. Therefore, the present study investigated the characteristics of poisoning cases in Baghdad Poisoning Consultation Center (PCC) and Forensic Medicine Institute (FMI). Data on all poisoning cases reported in PCC and FMI during 2013 were retrospectively obtained from medical records. Total of 1131 reports of poisoning cases (1082 from PCC and 49 from FMI) were analyzed according to age, sex, geographical distribution and causes of poisoning according to the type and class of poisoning agent.      Five hundred nasal swabs were taken from normal medical staff and public in the city of Baghdad. Several identification parameters were used to recognize the bacterial isolates.  S. aureus isolations form nasal swabs were identified using morphology and VITECK 2 system. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was employed to determine PVL (Panton–Valentine leukocidin ) gene in S. aureus. The data showed no significant evidence on the relationship between PVL gene presence and gender and age of  the studied groups. There was no relation between the prevalence of PVL gene in the age groups  of  21-30 years (p=0.328) and 31-40 years (p=0.682).

     Since oil is the primary source of vanadium in the environment and crude oil has a correspondingly high percentage of vanadium. Vanadium is crucial as a sign of oil contamination. Twenty soil samples were taken from various locations surrounding the East Baghdad oil field in Iraq during February 2022 and then analyzed to determine the effects of industrialization along with urbanization-related pollutants. The soil samples were analyzed using spectrophotometry analysis. In soil samples taken from the research area, vanadium concentrations range from (0.26 to 1.2 ppm). The contamination (CF), geoaccumulation (Igeo) and Enrichment factors (EF) indicated that all the soil samples are uncontaminated.
