Salt stress negatively affects germination and seedling growth. Sorghum cultivars (Bohuth70, Inqath and Rabeh), seed soaking in dry yeast extract (3, 6 and 9 g l-1) in addition to dry seeds and electrical conductivity (4, 10 and 16 dS m-1) were studied. Traits of germination ratio at first and final counts, lengths of radicle and plumule, seedling dry weight and seedling vigour index were studied. The cultivar of Bohuth70 and concentration of yeast extract (9 g l-1) were superior at all studied traits, while all traits values were reduced with increased saline stress. The combination (Bohuth70×9×4) was superior to most other treatments at first and final counts, radicle length and seedling dry weight, while superiority of plumule length and seedling vigour index belonged to the combination of (Rabeh×9×4). The genetic factor and seed soaking in yeast extract can enhance seed susceptibility to germinate with salt stress or not. © 2020 Plant Archives. All rights reserved.

Show MoreGrape is a phenolics rich plants, Black Grape seed extract was reported to have many pharmalogically benefits including antioxidant, antimicrobial, anticancer and anti aging and anti Alzheimer's properties. Black grape seed phenols were extracted by percolation method. Results showed that the minimum inhibitory concentration of phenolic extract had no effect against K.pneuminae, However, variable inhibitory effects were developed against pathogenic P.aeruginosa , E.coli ,Bacillus ,S.aureus , E.faecalis and C.albicans. We found that black grape seed extract (Vitis vinifera) was more effective against gram positive bacteria than gram negative bacteria and its effect also against pathogenic C.albicans.
Seeds of barley ( Hordeum vulgare L.) plant var. California Marriout were soaked in solutions of calcium sulphate and calcium chloride at different concentrations (0.5%,1.0%,5.0%) for different periods of time(3,6,12) h with continuous aeration . Irrigation water was supplemented with different levels of Sodium chloride 6, 12 or 18 mmhos/ cm in addition control treatment, and passed through a proper magnetic felid with 1000, 1250, 1500 or 2000 gaus in addition control treatment.
