Estimation of the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) Variation for Selected Regions in Iraq for two Years 1990 & 2001

The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) is commonly used as a measure of land surface greenness based on the assumption that NDVI value is positively proportional to the amount of green vegetation in an image pixel area. The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index data set of Landsat based on the remote sensing information is used to estimate the area of plant cover in region west of Baghdad during 1990-2001. The results show that in the period of 1990 and 2001 the plant area in region of Baghdad increased from (44760.25) hectare to (75410.67) hectare. The vegetation area increased during the period 1990-2001, and decreases the exposed area.

Remote sensing technique to monitoring the risk of soil degradation using NDVI

In order to take measures in controlling soil erosion it is required to estimate soil loss over area of interest. Soil loss due to soil erosion can be estimated using predictive models such as Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE). The accuracy of these models depends on parameters that are used in equations. One of the most important parameters in equations used in both of models is (C) factor that represents effects of vegetation and other land covers. Estimating land cover by interpretation of remote sensing imagery involves Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), an indicator that shows vegetation cover. The aim of this study is estimate (C) factor values for Part of Baghdad city using NDVI derived from satellite Image of Landsat-7

measure the relationship between imported inflation and foreign trade in the Iraqi economy for long 1990-2015 using model nardl

The study aims to discuss the relation between imported inflation and international trade of Iraqi economy for the period (1990-2015) by using annual data. To achieve the study aim, statistical and Econometrics methods are used through NARDL model to explain non-linear relation because it’s a model assigned to measure non-linear relations and as we know most economic relations are non-linear, beside explaining positive and negative effects of imported inflation, and to reach the research aim deductive approach was adopted through using descriptive method to describe and determine phenomenon. Beside the inductive approach by g statistical and standard tools to get the standard model explains the

Analysis of Mutations in Conserved and Susceptible Regions Across the Whole Genome Sequencing Analysis for SARS-CoV-2 in Iraqi Patients

This study aimed to get a better understanding of molecular epidemiology and genetic variation in the spike glycoprotein as a key viral component involved in viral entrance into host cells and as a potential vaccination target. Three Iraqi SARS-CoV-2 strains were investigated using whole-genome sequencing, with two of them clustering into the 20A (GH) clade, and the remaining strain is clustered in 20E (GV) clade, belonging to the B.1.36.1 and B.1.177.80 lineage, respectively. Whole-genome sequencing of the viral RNA samples revealed nine sporadic nonsynonymous uncommon mutations with freq

Sacrococcygeal teratoma with yolk sac elements (endodermal sinus tumors) in two years old child

Background: Sacrococcygeal teratoma is seen in 1 in every 35000 live births, and is the most common tumor presenting in newborn and children but also reported in adults.(1)
Sacrococcygeal teratoma are the most common type of germ cell tumors (both benign and malignant) diagnosed in neonates , infants and children younger than 4 years.(2)
Case report: A 2 years old male child presented with a visible lump or mass under the skin at the top of the buttocks crease after falling on the ground on his buttocks, and the parents give a history that the child had a constipation since birth. The case was diagnosed as endodermal sinus tumor with yolk sac elements on the bases of clinical examination, ultrasonograp

Investment Trends for Iraqi Industries in Terms of Clean Production (selected model)

Industrial Investment according to Clean Productive methods is an important element in the process of rational use of Economic Resources, and the Iraqi industrial sector relied on traditional production methods; the productive activities in this sector did not take into consideration the environmental dimension, which leads to achieving the optimal use of economic resources, so it was necessary to have new investment trends heading with Clean Production. Therefore, the research is based on the hypothesis that "Clean Production contributes to improving the environment and rational use of Natural Resources." Based on the descriptive - inductive analysis methodology that study of Iraqi industries with Clean Production,

Depositional Setting of the Jeribe Formation in Selected Subsurface Sections, Northern Iraq

The current research studies the depositional setting of the Jeribe Formation in the south Mosul area of northern Iraq, which is tectonically located in the Low Folded Zone characterized by the deposition of limestone and marly limestone of the Jeribe Formation during the Middle Miocene. Petrography has provided a diversity of fauna such as benthonic foraminifera (Miliolid, Peneroplis sp., Dendritina sp. and Borelis melo curdica) in addition to Red Algae and Mollusca. The Jeribe carbonates were affected by various diagenetic processes such as dolomitization, neomorphism, cementation, anhydritization, compaction and dissolution. Many microfacies have been identified, including lime mudestone, wackestone, packstone and Milioldal

Discriminant Analysis to Assess Deprivation Index in Iraq

The aim of this study is to achieve the best distinguishing function of the variables which have common characteristics to distinguish between the groups in order to identify the situation of the governorates that suffer from the problem of deprivation. This allows the parties concerned and the regulatory authorities to intervene to take corrective measures. The main indicators of the deprivation index included (education, health, infrastructure, housing, protection) were based on 2010 data available in the Central Bureau of Statistics

RECORD OF TWO SPECIES OF THE MONOGENETIC TREMATODES GENUS DACTYLOGYRUS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN IRAQ ON GILLS OF THE CYPRINID FISH ALBURNUS CAERULEUS

For the first time in Iraq, two species of monogenetic tretamtodes of the genus Dactylogyrus were recorded from gills of Alburnus caeruleus from Tigris river at Al-Zaafaraniya, south of Baghdad during June 1995. The first species, Dactylogyrus sphyrna is characterized by having the seventh pair of marginal hooklets almost twice as large as other marginal hooklets, powerful inner and outer processes of median hooks especially the inner one which is expanded terminally, one connecting bar and long spirally twisted copulatory organ. The second species, Daclytogyrus phoxini differs from the first one by having marginal hooklets of the same size, inner and outer processes of median hooks are not powerful, two connecting bars

Formation evaluation for Mishrif Formation in Selected Wells from Noor Oilfield

This study aims at making formation evaluation for Mishrif Formation in three wells within Noor Oilfield which are: No-1, No-2 and No-5. The study includes calculations of shale volume and porosity, water saturation using Archie method, measuring the bulk volume of water (BVW) and using Buckle plot, as well as measuring the movable and residual hydrocarbons. These calculations were carried out using Interactive Petrophysics (IP) version 3.5 software as well as using Petrel 2009 software for structural map construction and correlation purposes. It was found that the Mishrif Formation in Noor Oilfield is not at irreducible water saturation, though it is of good reservoir characteristics and hydrocarbon production especially at the upper pa
