ABSTRACTBackground: In Iraq smoking is a common habit in both the urban and rural areas. There are many respiratory diseases like chronic bronchitis, bronchial carcinoma and emphysema which are related to chronic tobacco smoking.Objectives: To study the effect of tobacco smoking on the respiratory system, to establish a correlation between chronic tobacco smoking and its effects on the parameters which were studied and to create awareness in tobacco smokers about the effects of tobacco on their healthMethod: In this study 100 male subjects, 50 chronic smokers and 50 non- smokers were assessed for their pulmonary function tests by using a computerized spirometer.Results: Almost all their respiratory parameters were significantly reduced.

  The current study was conducted to study some certain quantities of dates , apple and white vinegar.      It was noticed that the percentage of acetic acid was (3.6%, 4.5%, 2.7%), for each and respectively, it was found that vinegar has an inhibiter biological activity against bacteria isolated from rectal fistula inflammation cases.     It was also noticed that vinger types have ability to increase healing anus fistula and show no toxicity on laboratory mice.

The present study aimed to investigate CMV and Rubella virus as a causative agent of recurrent abortion, while the IL-2 levels were estimated as immune parameter during pregnancy period. A total of 63 blood samples were collected from recurrently aborted women, control non-pregnant women and control pregnant women. The results recorded 72.09 % CMV positive aborted women and 27.91 % Rubella virus positive aborted women. Levels of IL-2 were (437.03 ± 38.02) pg/ ml in first group, (390.51± 63.56) pg/ ml in second group, (32.98 ±15.12) pg/ ml in control group non pregnant women and (118.63 ± 24.81) pg/ ml in control pregnant women. A field trial was conducted at Abu-Ghraib research station , Baghdad , Iraq , during the autumn season of 2006. The objectives were to study the effect of nitrogen fertilizer and planting space on the performance of rape seed. A split-plot in a randomized complete of block design with three replications were used. Five levels of nitrogen fertilizer ( 120,160,200,240,280 Kg / ha ) were assigned to main plots, where as planting space in sub-plots.
