Speech Enhancement Algorithm Based on a Hybrid Estimator
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Speech is the essential way to interact between humans or between human and machine. However, it is always contaminated with different types of environment noise. Therefore, speech enhancement algorithms (SEA) have appeared as a significant approach in speech processing filed to suppress background noise and return back the original speech signal. In this paper, a new efficient two-stage SEA with low distortion is proposed based on minimum mean square error sense. The estimation of clean signal is performed by taking the advantages of Laplacian speech and noise modeling based on orthogonal transform (Discrete Krawtchouk-Tchebichef transform) coefficients distribution. The Discrete Krawtchouk-Tchebichef transform (DKTT) has a high energy compaction and provides a high matching between Laplacian density and its coefficients distribution that affects positively on reducing residual noise without sacrificing speech components. Moreover, a cascade combination of hybrid speech estimator is proposed by using two stages filters (non-linear and linear) based on DKTT domain to lessen the residual noise effectively without distorting the speech signal. The linear estimator is considered as a post processing filter that reinforces the suppression of noise by regenerate speech components. To this end, the output results have been compared with existing work in terms of different quality and intelligibility measures. The comparative evaluation confirms the superior achievements of the proposed SEA in various noisy environments. The improvement ratio of the presented algorithm in terms of PESQ measure are 5.8% and 1.8% for white and babble noise environments, respectively. In addition, the improvement ratio of the presented algorithm in terms of OVL measure are 15.7% and 9.8% for white and babble noise environments, respectively.</p>

Effect of a novel coating material on the microleakage of glass hybrid restoration in primary teeth – An in vitro study
...Show More Authors

Background: Glass ionomer restorations are widely employed in the field of pediatric dentistry. There is a constant demand for a durable restoration that remains functional until exfoliation. This study aimed to measure and compare the effect of a novel coating material (EQUIA Forte Coat) on the microleakage of glass hybrid restoration (EQUIA Forte HT) in primary teeth. Material and method: Thirty cavitated (class-II) primary molars were allocated randomly into two groups based on the coat application; uncoated (control) and coated group (experimental). Cavities were prepared by the use of a ceramic bur (CeraBur) and restored with EQUIA Forte HT with or without applying a protective coat (EQUIA Forte Coat). Samples went through the therm

Razy: A String Matching Algorithm for Automatic Analysis of Pathological Reports
...Show More Authors

Pathology reports are necessary for specialists to make an appropriate diagnosis of diseases in general and blood diseases in particular. Therefore, specialists check blood cells and other blood details. Thus, to diagnose a disease, specialists must analyze the factors of the patient’s blood and medical history. Generally, doctors have tended to use intelligent agents to help them with CBC analysis. However, these agents need analytical tools to extract the parameters (CBC parameters) employed in the prediction of the development of life-threatening bacteremia and offer prognostic data. Therefore, this paper proposes an enhancement to the Rabin–Karp algorithm and then mixes it with the fuzzy ratio to make this algorithm suitable

A Proposal Algorithm to Solve Delay Constraint Least Cost Optimization Problem
...Show More Authors

Traditionally, path selection within routing is formulated as a shortest path optimization problem. The objective function for optimization could be any one variety of parameters such as number of hops, delay, cost...etc. The problem of least cost delay constraint routing is studied in this paper since delay constraint is very common requirement of many multimedia applications and cost minimization captures the need to
distribute the network. So an iterative algorithm is proposed in this paper to solve this problem. It is appeared from the results of applying this algorithm that it gave the optimal path (optimal solution) from among multiple feasible paths (feasible solutions).

Effect of Environmental Factors on the Accuracy of a Quality Inspection System Based on Transfer Learning
...Show More Authors

In this research, a study is introduced on the effect of several environmental factors on the performance of an already constructed quality inspection system, which was designed using a transfer learning approach based on convolutional neural networks. The system comprised two sets of layers, transferred layers set from an already trained model (DenseNet121) and a custom classification layers set. It was designed to discriminate between damaged and undamaged helical gears according to the configuration of the gear regardless to its dimensions, and the model showed good performance discriminating between the two products at ideal conditions of high-resolution images. So, this study aimed at testing the system performance at poo
