Evaluation of physical parameters in mitral valve stenosis by using Doppler Ultrasound

Background: Mitral valve stenosis is a condition in which the hearts mitral valve is narrowed (stenosis), This narrowing blocks the valve from opening properly obstructing blood flow through the heart and the rest of the body and this causes changes in physical parameters (resistance and conductance). Aim of the study: To assess the changes in the physical parameters in mitral valve stenosis disease in different gender and age by using Doppler ultrasound. Methods : The examination of patients at the Division of Echo - at the Iraqi Center for Heart Disease in Medical City for surgery specialist - Baghdad - Iraq, during(February2009 till November2010). The current study included fifty eight cases containing (27 males and 31 females) ages ranging between (16- 82) and is divided between 29 people from healthy people (I) which contain (13 males and 16 females) ages ranging between (16- 82) and a standard deviation of 22.6. Twenty nine of patients with mitral valve stenosis were divided into group (II) contains (6 males and 8 females) ages ranging between (28-76) and the standard deviation of 17.8, group (III) contains (5 males and 4 females) ages ranging between (40-71) and the standard deviation of 16.1 and group (IV) contain (3 male and 3 female) ages ranging between (56-72) and the standard deviation of 17.9. Studying changes developments in physical factors resulting from mitral valve stenosis and depending on these factors were calculated to change the resistance and conductivity and studying the relationship of the change in area and the change of physical factors. Results: The flow rate and area of mitral valve was significantly less in group IV than other groups, but pressure gradient, max velocity, pressure half time, max pressure were higher and more significantly in group IV. Resistance is significantly increases and it is higher in group IV compared with other groups. Conductance is higher in group I but more significant in group II. Conclusion: There is a strong correlation between the pressure half time and area of mitral valve. Resistance was significantly increased and it is higher in sever mitral stenosis. Conductance is high in mild mitral stenosis. The increase in mitral pressure gradient is frequently compensated by a decreased conductance. Age was highly influential but sex exerts less influence to change the physical parameters.

Painterly Rendering by Using K-mean Segmentation

The problem statement discussed in this paper is a new technique for the presentation of painterly rendering that uses a K-mean segmentation to divide the input image into a set of regions (depending on the grayscale of the regions). Segmenting the input image helps users use different brush strokes and easily change the strokes' shape, size, or orientation for different regions. Every region is painted using different brush kinds. The properties of the brush strokes are chosen depending on the region's details. The brush stroke properties, such as size, color, shape, location, and orientation, are extracted from the source image using statistical tools. The number of regions is set up manually and depends on the input image. This

The Writer Authentication by Using Syllables Frequency

An approach is depended in the recent years to distinguish any author or writer from other by analyzing his writings or essays. This is done by analyzing the syllables of writings of an author. The syllable is composed of two letters; therefore the words of the writing are fragmented to syllables and extract the most frequency syllables to become trait of that author. The research work depend on analyzed the frequency syllables in two cases, the first, when there is a space between the words, the second, when these spaces are ignored. The results is obtained from a program which scan the syllables in the text file, the performance is best in the first case since the sequence of the selected syllables is higher than the same syllables in

Psoriasis Treatment by Using Narrowband-UVB Phototherapy

Ultraviolet light radiation is applied to treat Plaque Psoriasis disease by targeted phototherapy. This is available through Narrowband-UVB light radiation devices peaked at wavelength 311 nm. Ten cases were chosen as a study group, 8 males aged 22-40 years old, and 2 females aged 25 and 32 years old who were exposed to ultraviolet light radiation. Their recovery or improvement was followed weekly. Different doses were used according to the severity of the lesion and as a trial for the outcome. The dose was given two times a week, starting with 200mJ/cm2, and subsequently increased by 100 or 200 mJ/cm2 reaching a maximum dose as tolerated by each individual patient. Improvement was observed after 4 – 6 weeks. The

Desalination by Membrane Distillation Using Electrospun Membranes

Electrospinning is a novel technique that can be used to produce highly porous fibers with highly tunable properties. In this research, this technique is adopted to prepare the electrospun nanofiber membrane for membrane distillation application. A custom-built electrospinning setup was made to prepare the nanofibers membrane. Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) polymer was used in the electrospinning process due to its high hydrophobicity. Electrospun (PVDF) nanofibers were tested in direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD) process using 0.6 M sodium chloride as a feed solution. The resulting nanofiber membrane exhibited high performance in DCMD (i.e. relatively high water flux and high salt rejection). It has been found

Fuzzy-assignment Model by Using Linguistic Variables

This work addressed the assignment problem (AP) based on fuzzy costs, where the objective, in this study, is to minimize the cost. A triangular, or trapezoidal, fuzzy numbers were assigned for each fuzzy cost. In addition, the assignment models were applied on linguistic variables which were initially converted to quantitative fuzzy data by using the Yager’sorankingi method. The paper results have showed that the quantitative date have a considerable effect when considered in fuzzy-mathematic models.

THE EFFECT OF A PROPOSED TRAINING PROGRAM USING INTERMITTENT TRAINING TO DEVELOP SOME PHYSICAL AND BIO-KINEMATIC VARIABLES AND ACCURACY OF THE JUMP SPIKE SERVE SKILL IN VOLLEYBALL

The purpose of this paper is to identifying the values of some physical and Bio- Kinematic variables during the performance of the jump spike serve skill, and identifying the effect of the proposed training program using intermittent training to develop some physical and Bio- Kinematic variables and accuracy of the jump spike serve skill among the research sample. The experimental method was used and the research was conducted on a deliberately chosen sample of the players of the Army Club, who were primarily advanced in volleyball, and the number of the sample was (10) players. The conclusions were reached that the proposed training program using intermittent training has a positive effect on some of the physical and Bio- Kinematic variabl

Evaluation of Transfected HEP-2 Cell Line Using ß-Galactosidase Reporter Assay System

Liposome-mediated transfection of cancer cells provide a valuable experimental technique to study cellular gene expression and may also be adapted for gene therapy studies. However, the widely recognized advantage of liposome-mediated transfection is high efficiency. Therefore, this study were performed to optimize transfection techniques in human larynx carcinoma cell line Hep-2 using the commercial synthetic lipid TransFast™ Reagent and monitoring the expression efficiency by using the pSV-?-galactosidase Control Vector which encoded ?-galactosidase, maximum transfection efficiency were achieved with TransFast™ Reagent used at the Charge ratios of 2:1 and 0.5 µg DNA/ml, this is indicate that TransFast™ Reagent can be used as an eff

Performance Evaluation of Small Scale Air-Conditioning System Using R22 and Alternative Refrigerants

A mathematical model has been formulated to predict the influence of high outdoor air temperature on the performance of small scale air - conditioning system using R22 and alternative refrigerants R290, R407C, R410A. All refrigerants were investigated in the cooling mode operation. The mathematical model results have been validated with experimental data extracted from split type air conditioner of 2 TR capacity. This entailed the construction of an experimental test rig which consists of four main parts. They are, the refrigeration system, psychrometric test facility, measuring instrumentation, and auxiliary systems. The conditioned air was maintained at 25 0C dry bulb and 19 0C wet bulb for all tests. The outdoor ambient air temperatur
