...Show More Authors

Pregnancy- including hypertension(PIH), also known as preeclampsia, is one of the major causes of maternal and fetal death. This study was carried out on 30 pregnant women with preeclampsia and 30 healthy pregnant women as control ranging in age mean ±SD (28.84±3.55) years , BMI (76.80±9.78) Kg/m2 and gestation age(30.82±0.75)week. The aim of this research was studied the plasma Metanephrine level and other biochemical parameters such as Hemoglobin(Hb), serum Protein, S. Albumin, Globulin, Albumin/Globulin ratio (Alb/Glu. ratio), S.Glutamate Pyruvate aminotransferase (GPT), S.Glutamate Oxaloacetate aminotransferase(GOT). The obtained results have been compared with 30 healthy pregnant women as control group. The result showed that there was significant increase in mean value of Hb in group A(pregnant women with preeclampsia) when compared to group B(healthy pregnant women). The present study showed no significant changes was observed in the level of S. Protein, globulin, Alb./Glu. ratio, GPT and GOT as compared to control group. While Albumin showed a significant decrease in group A(pregnant women with preeclampsia) when compared with group B(healthy pregnant women) and significant increase in the levels of metanephrine, metanephrine/protein ratio, metanephrine/Alb ratio in group A (pregnant women with preeclampsia) to group B(healthy pregnant women). The present study conclude that the increase in the levels of metanephrine, metanephrine/protein ratio, metanephrine/Alb ratio in pregnant women with preeclampsia may be used as a marker to evaluate the development of disease. The current study recommend to take more case and measurement metanephrine in plasma and urine. K

Synthesis, Characterization and Study of Liquid Crystal Behavior of Linear-Shaped Mesogens Containing Cyano and Alkyl as a Terminal Groups
...Show More Authors

A novel series of liquid crystalline compounds containing 2,4-thiazolidinedione units with varying terminal alkyl chain lengths was successfully synthesized and characterized. The chemical structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by FT-IR, ¹H-NMR, and mass spectrometry. The mesomorphic behavior was investigated using polarized optical microscopy (POM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Compounds [V]₄, [V]₅, and [V]₆ exhibited enantiotropic nematic phases, while compound [V]₈ displayed a smectic A (SmA) phase. No liquid crystalline behavior was observed for compound [V]₃. The liquid crystalline properties were found to depend on the terminal-to-lateral chain length ratio, molecular geometry, and the nature

Study of weathering effect on the thermal conductivity of polyvinyl chloride before and after silicon carbide addition as packaging materials
...Show More Authors

The work was carried out in two stages. The first stage concerned
with study of silicon carbide (SiC) ratio (1.5, 2.5, 3.5, and 4.5 wt%)
effect on the Thermal conductivity of polyvinyl chloride (PVC); and
the second stage concerned with the UV – weatherizing (25, 50, and
75 hr), thermal aging (40, 50, and 60 °C), and rain- weatherizing (1,
2.5, and 4 hr) effect on the samples involved. Thermal conductivity
results proved that there was slight increase in thermal conductivity
by (SiC) loading; it increased from 0.17 W/m.K for PVC to 0.19
W/m.K for 4.5% SiC/PVC; where as it was systematically decreased
by UV- weatherizing, thermal aging, and rain- weatherizing. This
property is in a good agreement with gene

An Analysis of the Efficacy of Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections on the Treatment of Internal Derangement of a temporomandibular Joint
...Show More Authors

Background: A Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) internal derangement (TMJID) is a disruption within the internal aspects of the TMJ in which the disc is displaced from its normal functional relationship with the mandibular condyle, after which the articular portion of the temporal bone causes joint dysfunction, joint sound, malocclusion, and locking of the mouth. Conservative and invasive techniques can be used for the treatment of TMJID. A platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection is a simple, less invasive surgical procedure for the treatment of internal derangement. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of PRP injections in decreasing or eliminating pain, clicking, and limitation of mouth opening in patients with TMJID after th
