FIELD EMERGENCE IN PRIMED SEED OF SORGHUM CULTIVARS TO TOLERATE DROUGHT STRESS
...Show More Authors

An experiment was carried out in pots under open field conditions in the fall seasons of 2017 and 2018 at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, for improving field emergence and drought stress tolerance in sorghum. Three factors were studied. 1st factor was three cultivars (Inqath, Rabeh and Buhoth70). 2nd factor was primed and unprimed seed. 3rd factor was represented by the irrigation intervals every 2, 4 and 6 days. Randomized complete block design with four replicates was used. The results showed that Buhoth 70 cultivar had a significant superiority compared to others in traits of the first and final count of emergence, emergence energy and emergence rate index (54.2%, 26.7%, 1.747 and 70.7 % day-1 ) and (58.8%, 22.7%, 1.677 and 7..4 % day-1 ) in both seasons, respectively. The primed seeds had a significant superiority in comparison with unprimed seeds in the same traits above (74.6%, 21.1%, 1.746 and 77.1 % day-1 ) and (64.1%, 24.4%, 1.641 and 7... % day-1 ) in both seasons, respectively. The irrigation interval every 2 days had a significant superiority compared to others in the same traits above (74.6%, 2..7%, 1.746 and 70.2 % day-1 ) and (60.6%, 2...%, 1.616 and 77.4 % day-1 ) in both seasons, respectively. The interaction effect between priming seeds (by gibberellin and salicylic acids) and irrigation intervals was significant on all studied traits. The cultivars were varied in their ability to resist drought stress, and the primed seed has improved their performance to resist drought stress in both seasons. Therefore, it can be recommended planting of primed seeds of Buhoth70 cultivar under conditions of drought stress or not.

The Impact of Envy on Workplace Stress A field Study of Faculty Staff at the Technical College of Management-Baghdad
...Show More Authors

The research aims to measure the impact of envy on job stress because the topic of envy represents a negative emotion that exists at all organizational levels, which may cause stress in the work environment.

The Research problem is represented by the lack of perception of most of the faculty staff on the negative effects of envy on their well-being in the Technical College of Management - Baghdad, and what is the impact level of envy on their job stress.

To achieve this, the scale of envy was based on two dimensions (being envied, Envying others), While the job stress scale was based on seven dimensions (workload, conflict role, Family factors, work environment, work relationships

Valorization of Palm Date Seed Powder as Natural Sand in Asphalt Mixtures
...Show More Authors

The growing emphasis on sustainable construction has prompted interest in repurposing agricultural by-products as alternatives to conventional aggregates in asphalt mixtures. While natural sand is widely available, its use can lead to less stable, more tender mixes, which can limit various specifications. This study explores the potential of palm date seed (PDS) powder as a partial and full replacement for natural sand in asphalt concrete. A series of laboratory tests was conducted to evaluate the effect of PDS incorporation on the mechanical and durability performance of asphalt mixtures, including Marshall properties, resilient modulus, fatigue resistance, moisture susceptibility, and permanent deformation. Additionally, microstructural a

Sorption Isotherms for Triticale Seed
...Show More Authors

Triticale is being evaluated as a substitute for corn in animal feed and as a forage crop for Florida. Storage of triticale seed is difficult in Florida's hot and humid climate, and more information about the relationships between equilibrium moisture content (EMC) and equilibrium relative humidity (ERH) at constant temperature (sorption isotherms) of triticale is needed to develop improved storage methods. Therefore, the primary research objective was to measure the EMC for triticale seed at different ERH values at three different constant temperatures (5°C, 23°C, and 35°C) using six desiccation jars containing different saturated salt concentrations. The secondary objective was to determine the best fit equation describing these relati
