الدعوة العباسية هي جزء من الحركات الثائرة ضد أي نظام لم يستطع القيام بإدارة الأمور السياسية بطريقة تعمل على امتصاص الغضب الشعبي جراء السياسة الخاطئة لأي نظام استلم السلطة وكانت الدعوة العباسية تعمل على الوقوف والتأييد ضد أي تحرك ثوري يؤدي إلى كسر أو إنهاء الدولة الأموية وقد كان البيت العباسي قد عمد إلى التحرك السري في خراسان والأقاليم القريبة منها كون أن السلطة الأموية أخطأت في إيجاد الحلول الداخلية في داخل البيت الأموي من جهة ومن جهة أخرى لم تستقطب حركات المعارضة ضد الجور الذي أصابهم من أصحاب السلطة والقرار وكانت لدعاية بني العباس الحصة الأكبر التي التفت حولها الجماهير الثائرة كونها قد رفعت شعاراً عظيماً ومظلوماً وكبيراً لإيواء أي مظلوم وهو شعار "الرضا من آل محمد" وكان شعارهم هذا يعتمد على أساس قوي ونبيل متمثل في القربة ما بين النبي (ص) وعمه العباس بن عبد المطلب فكان استغلال الشعار متزامناً مع الثورة الخالدة للعلويين ومن لحق بهم من حركات الأحرار والتي تمثلت بثورة الإمام الحسين (ص) وآخرها ثورة زيد بن علي (ع) فكانت تلك الثورات الغطاء الذي استغله بني العباس في زيادة الأنصار والانتصار على الاطاحة بنظام الأمويين وبناء دولة استمرت في الحكم لأكثر من خمسة قرون والتي تناوب على الحكم فيها أحفاد العباس بن عبد المطلب والتي اعتمدت على سلطتها الدينية والسياسية من قرابتها بالنبي (ص).
