Behavior of Stiffened Stainless-Steel Tube Columns Filled with Steel Fiber Concrete

This research explored the performance of steel fiber concrete-filled stainless-steel tube columns stiffened with embedded carbon steel T-sections with various steel fiber ratios under biaxial bending conditions. A numerical parametric analysis was adopted, using finite element modeling with Abaqus CAE/2021 to evaluate the effects of the fiber ratio (ranging from 0% to 1.5%) on the load-bearing capacity and deflection behavior of columns. In addition, the compressive strength of concrete ranged between 45 and 65 MPa. An increase in the fiber ratio led to a substantial improvement in the ultimate load-bearing capacity (up to 24%), a reduction in deflection (of approximately 49%), and an improvement in column ductility, which were obtained at 1.25% fiber content. The addition of steel fibers enhanced column performance, and energy absorption improved by up to 27% compared to specimens without steel fibers. Experimental validation demonstrated improved accuracy in terms of behavior and predicted models. The conclusions of this work provide valuable design insights enabling the adaptation of the overall column system under complex loading scenarios.

Chemical Sensor Based on a Hollow-Core Photonic Crystal Fiber

In this work a chemical sensor was built by using Plane Wave Expansion (PWE) modeling technique by filling the core of 1550 hollow core photonic crystal fiber with chloroform that has different concentrations after being diluted with distilled water. The minimum photonic bandgap width is.0003 and .0005 rad/sec with 19 and 7 cells respectively and a concentration of chloroform that filled these two fibers is 75%.

Effect of industrial powder on mechanical properties of glass fiber reinforced epoxy composite

The composites constituents were epoxy resin as the matrix, 6% volume fractions of Glass Fibers (G.F) as reinforcement and 3%, 6% of industrial powder (Calcium Carbonate CaCO3, Potassium Carbonate K2CO3 and Sodium Carbonate Na2CO3) as filler. Influence of Optical Fiber Diameters on the Performance of Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor

FRACTURE PROPERTIES OF LOCAL ASPALT CONCRETE

The local asphalt concrete fracture properties represented by the fracture energy, J-integral, and stress intensity factor are calculated from the results of the three point bending beam test made for pre notches beams specimens with deformation rate of 1.27 mm/min. The results revealed that the stress intensity factor has increased by more than 40% when decreasing the testing temperature 10˚C and increasing the notch depth from 5 to 30mm. The change of asphalt type and content have a limited effect of less than 6%.
