  1. Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, Molecular Plant Virology from th e University of Missouri - Columbia.
  2. Strong Publication Record: A consistent history of peer-reviewed publications in reputable international journals.
  3. Expertise in Molecular Biology Techniques: Proficiency in techniques such as PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR, cloning, gene expression analysis, and protein analysis is essential for studying plant-pathogen interactions at the molecular level.
  4. Deep Understanding of Plant Pathology Principles: A comprehensive knowledge of plant disease etiology, epidemiology, and management strategies is vital for effective teaching, research, and consulting.
  5. Experience in Plant Virology: Expertise in plant virus identification, characterization, transmission, and control is critical for addressing viral disease challenges in Iraqi agriculture.
  6. Teaching Experience at the University Level: Able to effectively teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in plant protection and related fields.

Responsibility

Teaching & Mentoring:

Course Instruction: Developing and delivering engaging and informative lectures, seminars, and laboratory sessions in plant protection, plant pathology, plant virology, molecular biology, and related subjects. Curriculum Development: Designing and updating course curricula to ensure they are current, relevant, and aligned with industry needs and international standards. Student Advising: Providing academic and career guidance to undergraduate and graduate students, helping them to develop their research skills and pursue their professional goals. Thesis Supervision: Supervising graduate students in their research projects, providing guidance on experimental design, data analysis, and manuscript preparation. Mentoring Junior Faculty: Providing guidance and support to junior faculty members in their teaching and research activities. Assessment: Evaluating student performance through examinations, assignments, and research presentations. Participating in academic events and committees to evaluate and develop university courses, improve content and delivery. Research & Scholarship:

Conducting Original Research: Designing, conducting, and analyzing research projects in plant pathology, plant virology, molecular biology, and related fields. Securing Research Funding: Writing and submitting grant proposals to secure funding from national and international sources to support research activities. Publishing Research Findings: Disseminating research results through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and other scholarly activities. Collaborating with Researchers: Building and maintaining collaborations with researchers at other universities and research institutions, both nationally and internationally. Staying Current with the Literature: Keeping abreast of the latest developments in plant protection and related fields through literature reviews, conference attendance, and participation in professional organizations. Providing Expert Advice: Serving as a consultant to NGOs, private sector companies, and government agencies on issues related to plant disease management, sustainable agriculture, and food security. Developing and Delivering Training Programs: Designing and delivering training programs for farmers, extension agents, and other agricultural professionals on best practices for plant disease control. Conducting Field Assessments: Conducting field assessments to identify plant disease problems and recommend appropriate management strategies. Translating Research into Practice: Working to translate research findings into practical solutions that can be implemented by farmers and other agricultural stakeholders. Participating in Outreach Activities: Engaging in outreach activities to raise awareness of plant disease issues and promote sustainable agricultural practices within the community. Evaluate and offer plant protection related consultations with different related parties including policy-makers. Evaluate, transfer and implement sustainable agricultural practices, especially those related to integrated pest management in Iraq’s agri-ecosystems. University Service & Administration:

This study was initiated to examine the tomato-infecting viruses belonging to the Tobamovirus and Potexvirus genera in Iraq. Field observations and surveys were carried out for three successive cropping seasons (2020/21 to 2022/23) in selected tomato production areas. The purpose was to identify the main viruses associated with tomato epidemics and assess the impact of different tomato cultivars on disease occurrence.
