Summary

Dr. Khalid Al-Kinani currently holds the position of Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics at the College of Pharmacy, University of Baghdad. He is also the current Chair of the Biologics and Biosimilars Registration Committee at the Iraqi Ministry of Health. Dr. Al-Kinani earned his PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology from the University of Kansas, School of Pharmacy, USA, in 2017. Prior to that, he received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Pharmacy from the University of Baghdad, College of Pharmacy, in 2012 and 2010, respectively.

As a faculty member, Dr. Al-Kinani teaches several undergraduate and graduate courses, including Pharmaceutical Technology, Physical Pharmacy, and Advanced Drug Delivery Systems. His research primarily focuses on pharmaceutical sciences, pharmaceutical technology, and regulatory affairs. He has supervised graduate and undergraduate pharmacy students in their degree pursuits.

As the Chair of the Biologics and Biosimilars Registration Committee, Dr. Al-Kinani played a key role in introducing biosimilars by establishing Iraq’s regulatory pathway for the approval of these products through evaluation and drafting the approval and registration guidelines. Biosimilars have saved millions of dollars for the Iraqi healthcare system. Previously, he served as the Head of the Bioavailability and Bioequivalence Assessment Unit and was a member of the Technical Committee for the Pharmaceutical Industry at the Iraqi Ministry of Health.

Dr. Khalid Al-Kinani is a member of various associations, including the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA), the Iraqi Pharmacists Syndicate, and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS).

Qualifications

PhD in Pharmaceutics from the University of Kansas, School of Pharmacy, USA (2017). Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutics from the University of Baghdad, College of Pharmacy (2010). Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Baghdad, College of Pharmacy (2012).

Responsibility

Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics at the College of Pharmacy, University of Baghdad. Chair of the Biologics and Biosimilars Registration Committee at the Iraqi Ministry of Health. Instructor of various courses such as Pharmaceutical Technology, Physical Pharmacy, and Advanced Drug Delivery Systems, teaching both undergraduate and graduate students. Research supervision for graduate and undergraduate pharmacy students at the University of Baghdad. Development of Iraq’s regulatory pathway for the approval of biosimilars through evaluation and drafting of guidelines for approval and registration. Leadership in cost-saving efforts for the Iraqi healthcare system by introducing biosimilars, which have saved millions of dollars. Member of the Technical Committee for the Pharmaceutical Industry at the Iraqi Ministry of Health.
