Dr Hamza Al-Tameemi is an assistant professor of applied mechanics and tribology in the Mechanical Engineering Department – University of Baghdad. He joined the department in 2006 after graduating with a BSc degree from the same department in 2005 and receiving the second highest overall score in his class. In 2008 he received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and graduated with MSc degree in Computational Mechanics of Materials and Structures (COMMAS) from the University of Stuttgart – Germany in 2010. In 2013 he received a scholarship from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq to pursue a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering – Tribology. He graduated with a PhD degree from the University of Sheffield – Leonardo Centre for Tribology – UK in 2018. Dr Hamza Al-Tameemi is specialized in the premature failure of the wind turbine gearbox bearings, known as White Etching Cracks (WEC). He is also focusing his research activities on hard protective coatings, solid particles erosion, contact mechanics and FEM. He is a regular review in a number of the highly ranked journals in mechanical engineering.
