The Catalytic Activity of Modified Zeolite Lanthanum on the Catalytic Cracking of Al-Duara Atmospheric Distillation Residue.
...Show More Authors

Atmospheric residue fluid catalytic cracking was selected as a probe reaction to test the catalytic performance of modified NaY zeolites and prepared NaY zeolites. Modified NaY zeolites have been synthesized by simple ion exchange methods. Three samples of modified zeolite Y have been obtained by replacing the sodium ions in the original sample with lanthanum and the weight percent added are 0.28, 0.53, and 1.02 respectively. The effects of addition of lanthanum to zeolite Y in different weight percent on the cracking catalysts were investigated using an experimental laboratory plant scale of fluidized bed reactor.

The experiments have been performed with weight hourly space velocity (WHSV) range of 6 to 24 h

NATURAL CONVECTION FROM SINGLE FINNED TUBE IMMERRSED IN A TILTED ENCLOSURE
...Show More Authors

Heat transfer rates of a single horizontal finned tube immersed in water –filled enclosure tilted at
30 degrees are measured .The results serve as a baseline case for a solar water heating system with a heat exchanger immersed in integral collector storage. Tests were made with both adiabatic and uniform heat flux boundary conditions. Natural convection flow in enclosure is interpreted from measured water temperature distributions. Formation of an appropriate temperature difference that drives natural convection is determined .Correlations for the overall heat transfer coefficient in terms of the Nusselt and Rayleigh numbers are reduced to the form Nu=0.716 Ra 0.247 Based on the diameter of the immersed tube .Comparis

Numerical Study of Piled Raft Foundation in Non-Homogeneous Soil Using Finite Element Method
...Show More Authors

This paper analyzes a piled-raft foundation on non-homogeneous soils with variable layer depth percentages. The present work aims to perform a three-dimensional finite element analysis of a piled-raft foundation subjected to vertical load using the PLAXIS 3D software. Parametric analysis was carried out to determine the effect of soil type and initial layer thickness. The parametric study showed that increasing the relative density from 30 % to 80 % of the upper sand layer and the thickness of the first layer has led to an increase in the ultimate load and a decrease in the settlement of piled raft foundations for the cases of sand over weak soil.  In clay over weak soil, the ultimate load of the piled raft foundation w

The finite difference method is used for solving the basic differential equation for the elastic deformation of a thin beam supported on a nonlinear elastic foundation. A tangent approach is used to determine the modulus of subgrade reaction after constructing a second degree equation for load-deflection diagram. Results of plate loading test of soil obtained in Iraq were used in the analysis. An iterative approach is used for solving the nonlinear problem until the convergence of the solution. The method of analysis, as programmed for a computer solution, considers the continuous elastic, nonlinear foundation to be active only when the beam is pressing against the foundation. Two examples of with simply supported beams are presented to
