Pharmacokinetic Interaction Between Favipiravir and Amlodipine in Hypertensive Local Rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus)
...Show More Authors

In the treatment of COVID-19, the antiviral medication Favipiravir has proven to be quite successful. Its metabolism is mediated by the enzymes aldehyde oxidase (AO) and xanthine oxidase (XO). This research investigated the potential drug-drug interaction between
favipiravir and amlodipine in hypertensive rabbits. Twenty local adult male rabbits (aged between 10 and 12 months and weighing between 2 and 2.5 kg) were induced with hypertension by 20 mg/kg BW of desoxycorticosterone acetate subcutaneously for three
weeks and then divided randomly into two groups of ten. The first group received a single oral dose of 40 mg/kg BW of favipiravir, while the second group received 5 mg/kg of amlodipine orally for 14 consecutive days to

Evaluation of the Acute Toxicity of Acetaminophen in Mice
...Show More Authors

Acetaminophen (N-acetyl-para-aminophenol, APAP), widely used for pain relief across specie, poses significant toxicity risks. This study ‎aimed to assess the acute toxicity profile of APAP by determining the median toxic dose ‎‎(TD50) in a ‎‎murine model. Sixty male Balb/c mice, aged 8 weeks and weighing 20-30 ‎g, were randomized into six equal groups. Five groups received single oral doses of APAP (150, 200, 300, 500, and 700 mg/kg BW), while the control group received distilled water. The TD50 was ‎computed utilizing the probit method. Animals were ‎‎monitored for 24 h for ‎any sign indicative of clinical toxicity. Post-exposure, liver and kidney necropsies were conduc

Investigation of Infectious Laryngotracheitis Virus in Broiler Flocks in Sulaymaniyah Province, Iraq
...Show More Authors

Infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT) is an acute contagious upper respiratory tract infection of chickens and other birds, caused by Gallid herpesvirus1 (GaHV-1), which has economic importance in the poultry industry. There was no scientific data about the incidence of the disease in broiler farms in Sulaymaniyah province/Iraq. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate ILTV infection in broiler farms in that region. Clinically infected birds from 89 broiler flocks that had respiratory distress, coughing, gasping, tracheal rales, nasal ocular discharge, and congested trachea with purulent exudate, hemorrhagic tracheitis with/or without

Evaluation of Antibacterial and Antibiofilm Activity of Biogenic Silver Nanoparticles and Gentamicin Against Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from Caprine Mastitis
...Show More Authors

The goal of this study was to assess the antibacterial efficiency of biogenic silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and gentamicin against Staphylococcus aureus that can form biofilms. The characterization of AgNPs‎ was confirmed by the scanning electron microscope (SEM) which was spherical and homogenous in form, with a diameter between 25 and 45 nm. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) presented the size of AgNPs to be 50 nm. Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) was used to examine the presence of elemental silver. The three-dimensional structure of silver nanoparticles was discovered using an atomic force microscope (AFM), with a diameter of 47.18 nm on average. This research aimed to evaluate the protective ability of Syzygium aromaticum methanolic extract against Salmonella Typhimurium infection in rabbits. Three groups of eight rabbits were given the following: The first group was subcutaneously given Salmonella
Typhimurium-whole sonicated killed antigen (ST-WSKAg); the second group was orally given S. aromaticum extract as well as KWCSAg-ST subcutaneously; the third group was left as positive control group. The rabbit groups were orally challenged by 9×108 CFU/mL Salmonella Typhimurium then the animals were sacrificed 10 days postchallenge for histopathological study. Intestine, liver, kidney, and spleen were studied for pathological changes. The results showed that the second group ha

Physiological status and litter size can indeed have a significant impact on ewes' hematological parameters, which are essential indicators of their health. Therefore, this study examined the hematological profiles of ewes during pregnancy with single and twins in the Awassi ewes. The present study involved 232 ewes in good health and at sexual maturity. Among them, 123 ewes had single pregnancies, while 109 ewes had twin pregnancies. The age range of the ewes included in the study was between 3.5 and 4.5 years. The seminiferous epithelium of the testes of cat consists of two groups of cells; Spermatogenic cells and Sertoli cells. The interstitial areas are filled with Leydic cells, blood and lymph vessels, and connective tissue. Germ cells in the Spermatogenic process of the testis of cat can be classified into ten steps, based on the pattern degree of nuclear chromatin condensation. Primary spermatogonia contain large spherical nuclei with mostly euchromatin. Spermatogonia proliferate to give rise to spermatogonia type –A; Intermediate or type-I spermatogonia, and spermatogonia type-B. Type–B spermatogonia yield primary spermatocyte at the end of mitosis. The primary spermatocyte is transformed into secondary spermatocyte during meiosis I.
