Isolation and Identification of Wild Isolate of Newcastle Disease Virus from Broiler Farm in Diyala Province: Virological and Histopathological Study
...Show More Authors

A broiler poultry farm of six weeks old, vaccinated with LaSota Newcastle disease virus vaccine. The flock was infected with a virulent Newcastle disease virus with mortality rate up to 90%. Newcastle disease virus was isolated from infected birds in embryonated chicken eggs and identified by haemagglutination inhibition test using hyperimmune serum prepared against LaSota viral vaccine. Median Death Time, Intracerebral Pathogenicity Index and Intravenous Pathogenicity Index proved that the virus was a virulent viscerotropic isolate. In experimental infection, broilers were vaccinated twice with LaSota strain, the level of anti-Newcastle disease virus IgG was checked by Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay test pre

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of omental flap on healing of unfixed fractured ribs in dogs. Sixteen adult local breed dogs were used, which they were divided into two equal groups (Control and Treated group). The experimental animals were pre-medicated with atropine sulfate 0.04 mg/kg BW intramuscularly, and after 10 minute anesthetized with a mixture of Ketamine hydrochloride (15 mg/kg BW)
and Xylazine hydrochloride (5 mg/kg BW) intramuscularly. In control group, the rib was fractured by wire saw and left unfixed then the muscles and skin was closed routinely. While in treated group, the rib was fractured by wire saw and a flap of omentum was put around the fractured rib, then muscles and skin were closed. Animals

Evaluating Expression of the STAG1 Gene as a Potential Breast Cancer Biomarker

STAG proteins, which are part of the cohesin complex and encoded by the STAG genes, are known as Irr1/Scc3 in yeast and as SA/STAG/stromalin in mammals. There are more variants as there are alternate splice sites, maybe three open reading frames (ORFs) code for three main proteins, including: SA1 (STAG1), SA2 (STAG2) and SA3 (STAG3). The cohesin protein complex has various essential roles in eukaryotic cell biology. This study compared the expression of the STAG1 gene in four different breast cancer cell lines, including: MCF-7, T-47D, MDA-MB-468, and MDA-MB-231 and normal breast tissue. RNA was extracted from these cell lines and mRNA was converted to cDNA, and then expression of the STAG1 gene was quantified by three sets of specific p

Matrix Metalloproteinase 9 as Biomarker for Malignant Mammary Tumors in Dogs

Canine mammary tumors (CMTs) are frequently occurring types of tumor in female dogs. Matrix metallopeptidase 9 (MMP-9) plays a role in dismantling the extracellular matrix during normal bodily functions and diseases, including cancer. The goal of this research was to evaluate the serum levels of MMP-9 as a potential diagnostic indicator for CMTs using the ELISA method. We collected tissue samples from mammary glands and blood specimens from 50 dogs suspected of having CMTs and 30 healthy control dogs. Histological examination was used to diagnose the mammary tumors, with findings indicating that 88% of the cases were malignant CMT and 12% were benign.
