One hundred specimens (urine and sputum) were collected in sterilized containers from patients attending two hospitals in Baghdad province including: Educational Al-Karama Hospital and Educational Al-Yarmouk Hospital, in which, thirty-eight K. pneumoniae isolate were obtained out of one hundred specimens, all of which are of urine origin. The results obtained in this study showed that Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates were highly resistant to Augmentine (94.7%), also Klebsiella isolates were resistant to Ceftriaxone (86.8%), Cefotaxime (81.5%), and Ceftazidime (65.7%). Very low level of resistance was found toward Imipenem and Meropenem (18.4% and 5.2%) respectively. Only four isolates (10.52 %) were positive for wzy gene; K19, K20, K21, an

Magnetic Field Effect on the Characteristics of Large-Volume Glow Discharge in Argon at Low Pressure
...Show More Authors

The magnetic field effect on the current-voltage characteristic curves of glow discharge in argon at low pressures has been experimentally investigated. The electrical discharge was ignited in a stainless steel tapered chamber of a nominal volume of 0.5m3 immersed inside a water-cooled coil capable of delivering a magnetic field of strength B of up to 0.42T. Three water-cooled electrodes were inserted into the chamber up to a point where their tips were 20cm away from the surface of the central column of the chamber. An enhancement of the electric field configuration within the region of the electrode assembly was performed by threading one of the electrodes with stainless circular discs(80mm and 140mm in diameter) in various forms(attac

STUDYING INELASTIC TRANSVERSE ELECTRON SCATTERING FORM FACTORS OF THE ISOSCALAR TRANSITIONS IN 10B NUCLEUS

The inelastic transverse electron scattering form factors are studied for the four
isoscalar transitions for the states of 10B nucleus. These states are specified
by J T  =1+0 (0.718 MeV), 1 0 2

shell model.
The transverse form factors have been calculated in the framework of the multinucleon
configuration mixing shell model using the two-body interaction of Cohen

crude extracts of dried rhizome powder of Zingiber officinale plant. These extracts
were obtained by using different organic solvents and water.
Results revealed that diethylether and ethanolic extracts have shown an inhibitory
action upon both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria in concentrations
between (10–100) mg/ml.
Cold water extracts showed higher inhibitory activity than that of the hot water
extract. These results obtained by using the well diffusion method. In addition all

CALCULATIONS OF (γ-n) REACTION CROSS-SECTION AND GAMMA RAY INCINERATION OF 144Ce, 144Nd, 151Sm AND 155Eu
...Show More Authors

The evaluation of the (γ,n) cross section for radioactive fission products has been done in the present paper. The current research deals with heavy isotopes resulting from fission reactor, namely, 144Ce, 144Nd, 151Sm and 155Eu. The range of energy lays in the region of energy near the giant dipole resonance, from the threshold energy up to around 30 MeV. The present radioactive isotopes were chosen as part of the radioactive waste from 235U fission. Total cross section results then were found and calculated, and used to calculate the number of incinerated nuclei. By varying the gamma-ray fluxes and repeating the calculations, the present method shows efficiency in reducing the radioactivity of these isotopes. The results given in the p

Hydrogeological System of Injana Formation in Salahaddin Governorate/ Iraq
...Show More Authors

Injana Formation is the most extended geological formation in Salahaddin Governorate/ Iraq. About 10% of the studied area is covered by the outcrops of the formation as a recharge area. The formation is a subsurface within the unsaturated zone in 5% of the total studied area, while it exists within the saturated zone in about 85%; it is a major confined groundwater aquifer. Therefore, the hydrogeological system of the layers needs to be re-evaluated to describe the successions of aquifers and confining layers and their relation with each other.

The lithology, depths, water table, saturated thickness, hydraulic characteristics of the aquifers, and the lateral and vertical variations of these characteristics were adopted to classif

Diabetes is a chronic disease which has reached pandemic proportions in a lot of countries of the world. In spite of the remarkable development in therapeutics chemistry, the usage of customary drugs is still a common practice for the treatment of diabetes. The current study was designed to investigate the effects of pomegranate seed oil (PSO) on kidney functions in the experimentally-induced diabetes in male rabbits. Diabetes was experimentally introduced by the intraperitoneal injection of alloxan monohydrate (150mg/kg BW). After three days of alloxan injection, samples were taken for the determination of glucose concentration. Serum glucose concentration of 200mg/ml was considered as an indication of animal diabetes. PRODUCING HIGH RESOLUTION SPECTRAL BANDS FROM LOW RESOLUTION MULTI-BANDS IMAGES, USING PRINCIPAL COMPONENT ANALYSIS “PCA” TECHNIQUE

Image data fusion is the process of setting together information gathered by
different heterogeneous sensors, mounted on different platforms. This research
presents an effective multi-resolution image data fusion methodology, which is
based on utilizing the Principal Component Analysis “PCA”. The first principal
component “PCA1” involves much of the variability in the spectral data; while the
reminder PCAs contain the remaining variability in a descend order. The low
resolution multispectral bands are, firstly, resized (i.e. enlarged) into the high
resolution “panchromatic” image size, then transformed into several PCAs. As first
step the panchromatic image is normalized to have the same number of gray

EEG Signals Analysis for Epileptic Seizure Detection Using DWT Method with SVM and KNN Classifiers

Epilepsy is a critical neurological disorder with critical influences on the way of living of its victims and prominent features such as persistent convulsion periods followed by unconsciousness. Electroencephalogram (EEG) is one of the commonly used devices for seizure recognition and epilepsy detection. Recognition of convulsions using EEG waves takes a relatively long time because it is conducted physically by epileptologists. The EEG signals are analyzed and categorized, after being captured, into two types, which are normal or abnormal (indicating an epileptic seizure).  This study relies on EEG signals which are provided by Arrhythmia Database. Thus, this work is a step beyond the traditional database mission of delivering use

Today, an automated system for fruit classification and recognition is very important, especially when exporting to markets where quality of fruit must be high. In this study, the advantages and disadvantages of the various shape-based feature extraction algorithms and technologies that are used in sorting, classifying, and grading of fruits, as well as fruits quality estimation, are discussed in order to provide a good understanding of the use of shape-based feature extraction techniques.
