Campanian Calciturbidites from Northeast Iraq, Kurdistan Region: Insight into Paleogeography and Source Areas of the Shiranish Formation
...Show More Authors

Calciturbidites are similar to siliciclastic turbidites in structure, texture, basin physiography and processes of deposition; nevertheless, their clasts (grains) are carbonate minerals. Turbidity currents transport carbonate grains from carbonate source areas and coastal areas to the deep basins after passing the shelf (peri-platform). These currents are triggered by short-lived catastrophic events, such as tsunamis, earthquakes, marine slides, and typhoons. The Late Cretaceous Zagros Foreland and Hinterland in NE-Iraq (Kurdistan Region) was an active source for the shedding of voluminous sediments to the deep basin of Zagros Foreland Basin. During late Campanian, Shiranish Formation was deposited in the foreland basin; it occurs in the

This study is concerned with the unsteady flow of non-Newtonian, viscous, incompressible fluid in a curved pipe with rectangular cross-section, under the action of pressure gradient. An orthogonal coordinate system has been used to describe the fluid motion and it is found that the motion equations are controlled by three parameters namely; Dean number, non-Newtonian parameter and frequency parameter. Solution for the secondary flow and the axial velocity are droved as perturbation over straight pipe. Firstly the expansion was in terms of Dean number and secondly in terms of frequency parameter. Perturbation equations are solved by using variation method namely, Galerkin's method, after eliminating the dependency on time. The solutions h

This paper gives a dynamic analysis of the recently identified calibration parameter (NRSK) in the distance modulus equation for all celestial planets. The parameter NRSK has been applied for seven different comets from the Kuiper-Belt region: (1P/Hally, C/2023 E1 (ATLAS), 23P/Brorsen-Metcalf, 20D/Westphal, 12P/Pons-Brooks, 13P/Olbers, and C/2022 P1 (NEOWISE)). This was accomplished by programming data from the Live Sky program from previous years. It is determined that each comet has a distinctive NRSK that distinguishes it from other comets and that this parameter does not equal one. According to the data, the seven comets' average NRSK is (2.53 for 1P/Hally, 2.561forC/2023 E1 (ATLAS), 2.57 for 23P/Brorsen-Metcalf, 3.07 for 20D/Westpha

The Effect of Pseudo-Meiosis Genetic Algorithm on Bit-Coding Stationary Genetic Search
...Show More Authors

Yoshida and Adachi’s diploid genetic algorithm- the so-called pseudo-Meiosis genetic Algorithm (psM GA)- was focused on preserving population diversity and adapting the population quickly to problem changes. The large population diversity provided by psM GA with good adaptation to the problem changes were effective and sufficient to tackle non-stationary traveling salesman problem. They did not apply this genetic algorithm to other problem domains, like bit-coding problems. Hence, in this paper we revisit the psM GA, apply it on bit-coding problems so as to see the effect and search power of this genetic search algorithm on this problem domain.

Stellar Thermonuclear Reaction Rates of Proton Radiative Capture by Closed Light Shell Isotopes
...Show More Authors

Light isotopes, especially closed shell nuclei, have significance in thermonuclear reactions of the Carbon-Nitrogen-Oxygen (CNO) cycle in stars. In this research, 12C(p, γ) 13N and 14N(p, γ) 15O reactions have been calculated by means of Matlab codes to find the reaction rate across a temperature range of 0.006 to 10 GK using non-resonant parts, as well as the astrophysical S- factor S(E) at low energies. It was concluded that the high binding energy of 12C and 14N nuclei make the reaction less probable thus enabling other competitive processes to develop, which enhances the probability of other competitive proton reactions in the CNO cycle.
