Efficient treatment of petroleum refinery wastewater by an induced electro-Fenton process
...Show More Authors

The induced electrochemical-Fenton (I-EF) process is one of the electrochemical advanced oxidation processes (EAOPs) that has been recently applied to treat various types of wastewaters. In this work, the I-EF process, comprising a graphite/SnO2-Sb2O3 anode, an iron-screen-induced electrode, and an air-diffusion cathode, was used to treat petroleum refinery wastewater. The effects of current density (2-10 mA/cm²), pH (3-7), and the number of screens on the induced electrode (1 and 4) on chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal were investigated. Results showed that increasing pH improved COD removal, whereas increasing current density beyond 3 mA/cm2 reduced it. Increasing the screen number also enhanced the

Optimum design and performance analysis of a gas lift system in the carbonate reservoir of Ahdab oil field
...Show More Authors

Gas lift is one of the most important artificial lift methods for increasing oil production, as wells often require this method after the reservoir's energy has decreased. In this research, an optimal gas lift system is designed for five horizontal wells in the Ahdab oil field, which suffers from low production. At the same time, water cut in some of these wells reaches 66%, while the productivity index is low in others, which makes the challenges clear, and a deep analysis is needed to find an optimal system. The Pipesim program is used to design the optimal gas lift system, which contains features that facilitate the implementation of the appropriate design and provide the ability to analyze and determine the optimal design values

Comparative evaluation of hydraulic fracturing performance in vertical and horizontal wells using pipesim software
...Show More Authors

This research paper uses pipesim software to reproduce and evaluate well performance, comparing vertical and horizontal wells using hydraulic fracturing. It examines the impact of key parameters, such as fracture length, width, permeability, and fracture number, on production improvement. In low-permeability reservoirs, simulation studies indicate that horizontal wells often achieve higher production rates than vertical wells, largely due to improved reservoir and fracture connectivity. Productivity in the vertical well increased to 300(stb/d), while in the horizontal well, it increased to over 9,000 (stb/d) after using hydraulic fracturing. The results indicate that fracture width has less of an impact on the performance of vertica

Problems of Heavy Oil Transportation in Pipelines And Reduction of High Viscosity
...Show More Authors

Drag has long been identified as the main reason for the loss of energy in fluid transmission like pipelines and other similar transportation channels. The main contributor to this drag is the viscosity as well as friction against the pipe walls, which will results in more pumping power consumption.

The aim in this study was first to understand the role of additives in the viscosity reduction and secondly to evaluate the drag reduction efficiency when blending with different solvents.

This research investigated flow increase (%FI) in heavy oil at different flow rates (2 to 10 m3/hr) in two pipes (0.0381 m & 0.0508 m) ID By using different additives (toluene and naphtha) with different concent

The Jeribe reservoir in the Jambour Oil Field is a complex and heterogeneous carbonate reservoir characterized by a wide range of permeability variations. Due to limited availability of core plugs in most wells, it becomes crucial to establish correlations between cored wells and apply them to uncored wells for predicting permeability. In recent years, the Flow Zone Indicator (FZI) approach has gained significant applicability for predicting hydraulic flow units (HFUs) and identifying rock types within the reservoir units.

This paper aims to develop a permeability model based on the principles of the Flow Zone Indicator. Analysis of core permeability versus core porosity plot and Reservoir Quality Index (RQI) - Normalized por

One of the major elements faced in downhole drilling operations of oil and gas wells is the limited reach of coiled tubing (CT) in horizontal wellbores. To address this issue, this work creates an extended reach limit simulation of CT with starting bending curvature in a horizontal wellbore for an Iraqi well in the Ahdeb oil field. Using Drillbench software, a calculation approach is provided based on contact force and buckling models to determine the extended reach limit of CT. The findings of this study have significant implications for improving downhole drilling engineering design parameters and predicting the extended reach limit of CT. By considering factors such as friction resistance and contact force between the wellbore, a more
