Background: The dimensional change of alveolar ridge is normal effect of teeth extraction, with unfavourable functional and esthetical outcomes that might jeopardize implant placement. To reduce the biological effects of the dimensional changes of alveolar ridge, various surgical procedures have been recommended, called alveolar ridge preservation. In the previous decade, autogenously teeth have been proposed as bone graft substitution in fresh extraction socket with successful results, yet with various preparation protocols. Aim: Evaluate the formation of new bone derived from the freshly extracted teeth that are grafted immediately in the post extraction sockets, in comparison with sockets without graft filling, by using CBCT and to compare the vertical and horizontal contraction of alveolar ridge between both groups. Materials and methods: Twenty patients with an overall of 40 extraction sockets were selected for this study from department of oral and maxillofacial surgery. These cases were divided in two groups, control group (20 extraction sockets left to heal by clot formation) and study group (20 extraction sockets grafted with autogenously teeth particulates). The extracted teeth were processed immediately with smart dentin grinder device. CBCT scans were taken on one week after extraction as baseline image and four months later. Results: All extraction sites healed uneventfully. Reduction of ridge height and width were lower in grafted sites compared with sites left healed naturally. The bone healing density in grafted sites was statistically significantly higher that of sites healed naturally. Conclusion: The application of autogenously tooth bone graft (Auto BTG) in to fresh extraction socket is efficient in preservation of alveolar ridge by minimizing vertical and horizontal ridge loss and promoting healing of bone for up to 4 months as shown radio graphically.
Background: In the traditional protocol, the patient should wait after extraction up to six months to place the dental implant in healed bone, this waiting time accompanied by varying degrees of alveolar bone changes. In order to overcome these problems, immediate implant placement in the fresh extraction socket was introduced. The Aim of this study was to evaluate the outcome of the immediate implant placement utilizing Resonance Frequency Analysis (RFA) to quantify implant stability and osseointegration. Materials and Methods: A total of (23) patients participated in the study, receiving (44) implants placed in the sockets of teeth indicated for extraction. Clinical and radiographic preoperative assessment was accomplished for each patie

Objective: To assess the autogenous dentin graft biomaterial's ability to improve the esthetic outcomes of an immediately inserted implant. Methods: Twenty patients with non-restorable retained roots in the maxillary non-molar region surrounded by natural sound teeth were included in this study after a complete clinical and radiological examination, including patient health and clinical fitness for the immediate dental implant procedure. A single dental implant was inserted for each patient, and the resulting jump distance was filled with the mineralized dentin graft and co

The aim of this study was to evaluate the benefit of Ramfjord teeth in predicting the full-mouth clinical attachment level of an adult population in patients attending the college of dentistry- Baghdad University. Materials and methods: The study participants were 100 patients with age range from 30-60 years old which represent group zero. The patients were divided into three main groups according to the age of the patients. Group I and group II each of them composed of 30 patients while group III co

A large evidence base suggests that diabetes is associated with an increased prevalence, extent and severity of gingivitis and periodontitis and loss of teeth. Many patients do not aware that they are diabetic. Objectives:The aim of the current study was to assess a fast, non-invasive, safe procedure to screen for diabetes and its severity in dental clinics and to assess the change in blood glucose level before and after tooth extraction during periodontalResults: there were no significant differences between the blood samples collected before tooth extraction from finger puncture method (FPB) and the gingival
... Show MoreBackground: Healing of a tooth extraction socket is a complex process involving tissue repair and regeneration. It involves chemotaxis of appropriate cells into the wound, Transformation of undifferentiated mesenchymal cells to osteoprogenitor cells, proliferation and differentiation of committed bone forming cells, extracellular matrix synthesis, mineralization of osteoid, maturation and remodeling of bone. These cellular events are precisely controlled and regulated by specific signaling molecules. Some of these like transforming growth factor beta (TGF-?), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), bone morphogenetic proteins (BMP) and insulin like growth factors (IGF) are well conserved proteins involved in the initial response to injur

Uncontrolled or poorly controlled diabetes is clinically associated with increased susceptibility to delay healing. Many recent researches have shown that stem cell therapy can be the best choice for treatment of this disease. The aims of this research were investigating regeneration of pancreatic beta cells of diabetic induced rabbits after stem cell transplantation. Materials and Methods: 64 rabbits weighting an average of (2.5 - 3 kg) were used in this experimental study, and divided into 4 groups as follows; group A ( contains 16 healthy rabbits regarded as control group ) , Group B ( contains 16 diabetic rabbits

Patients eligible included any subject with a clinical indication for tooth extraction of the mandibular 1st or 2nd premolars. All patients were anesthetized buccally by local infiltration technique followed by an external pressure applied for 1 min directly over the injection area. In each case, another local
