CORRELATIVE INFLUENCE OF SEEDLING AGE, COTYLEDONS AND TERMINAL BUDS ON ADVENTITIOUS ROOT FORMATION IN STEM CUTTINGS OF MUNG BEAN

Rooting response in stem cuttings of mung bean increased considerably with inresing
seedling age, due to endogenous IAA or supplied IBA. However, after the day 7- or 8-old of
seedling age. The cotyledons sheivel and drop-off spontaneously at day-8 of seedling age. So
that cotyledons excision after cuttings were made during the period between seedling
emergence (the day 4) and cotyledons dropping off (which starts at day 8 and its completion
at day 10) causes decrease in rooting at any time during cutting treatment ,in particular, at
zero time . In addition, results of this study revealed that terminal buds do not influence
significantly adventitious root formation whether IBA supplied or not. Whereas in leafless
cuttings, excision of terminal buds at any time enhance rooting of cuttings specially at zero
time, compared with its presence. The correlative role of cotyledons and terminal buds as a
source of endogenous IAA and rooting co-factors and their influence on seedling
development and subsequently on rooting response of cuttings derived from them. In addition
to role of leaves on uptake and subsequent transport of supplied IBA have been discussed.

Influence of Cutting Position with IBA Hormone for Different Dipping Times on Rooting of Cassia tree Cassia surattensis Burm. Stem Cuttings

During spring 2015 under natural environmental conditions in plastic house to evaluated the effect of different concentrations of IBA (100, 300, 500, 700 and 1000( mg/1 on different cutting position (basal, sub terminal and terminal) for different dipping times (24, 48) hours, on Cassia surattensis Burm. stem cuttings rooting. Trifluralin and Corn Residues for Weed Management in Mung Bean Fields, Central Iraq

     A field experiment was conducted  at two sites (Baghdad and Wasit Governorates) to evaluate the effects of allelopathic corn residues applied as soil incorporation or mulch, alone  and in combination  with reduced (50% of recommended dose) rate of trifluralin herbicide on weeds growth and mung bean yield. Conventional soil tillage and zero soil tillage treatments with corn residues were performed, while 50% dose and full dose of trifluralin only (without residues) treatments were included for comparison. Sixteen soil samples were collected from wheat, barley and yellow corn rhizosphere in Abu-Ghraib, Aqraqof, Latifieh,Tarmiah, Jadriya and  of Agriculture in Baghdad university/ Baghdad city. The results found nine phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) isolates (Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4, Y5, Y6, Y7, Y8, Y9), formed clear zones on National Botanical Research Institute's (NBRIP) agar. The solubility index (SI) of PSB isolates ranged from 2.00 to 3.66. Y4 have the highest SI (3.66) followed by Y3 and Y6 (3.33). Anatomical and physiological traits of broad bean (Vicia faba L.) seedling affected by salicylic acid and salt stress

The aim was to improve the anatomical and physiological traits of broad bean seedling under salt stress by soaking it in salicylic acid. The concentrations of salicylic acid were 0, 10, and 20 mg L-1 and the electrical conductivity levels were 0, 3, and 6 dS m-1. The complete randomized design was used with four replications.
