Sensorineural Deafness Among Patients with Chronic Renal Failure in Al-kindi Teaching Hospital
...Show More Authors

Background: Patients with chronic kidney
disease have different grades of sensorineural
deafness .
Objective: To study the incidence of
sensorineural hearing loss and possible contributing
factors in patients with chronic kidney disease.
Methods: A total of 100 patients with chronic
kidney disease were studied. All of them were
males. 92 of them were on regular haemodialysis
programme. Only 8 patients were on conservative
management the age range of the study patients was
18-40 year patients were divided into three groups
according to age. All patients were assessed
clinically and were evaluated by audiometry , and
analysis was made on bone conduction threshold
.The mean follow up period was 28 weeks .
Results: 36 patients (36 %) showed sensorineural
hearing loss .The incidence of sensorineural
deafness was found to increase with the advancing
age and duration of chronic kidney disease but not
directly proportional to the number of
haemodialysis sessions .The number of
haemodialysis sessions did not show increase in the
degree of sensorineural deafness .
Conclusion: Patients with chronic kidney disease
have sensorineural deafness of some degree which
should be assessed and evaluated to halt its
progression.

Background: Ischemic heart diseases (I.H.D) become the most common cause of sudden death, and is also the most common reason for death of man and women over 20 years of age in the world. Many Factors Play a role in pathogenesis of I.H.D. among those could be Immune – inflammatory markers which may lead to development of this disease. The present study was conducted to obtain more clarification about the impact of some immuno – inflammatory markers (IL- 8 , IL- 4 and IFN- Ճ) on the Clinical expression of heart disease among Iraqi patients .
Patients and methods: Hundred Iraqi patient with I.H.D. (80 male and 20 female) ages ranged between 20 to 80 year were involved in this study, include 4 subgroups:

Heart Disease Classification–Based on the Best Machine Learning Model
...Show More Authors

In recent years, predicting heart disease has become one of the most demanding tasks in medicine. In modern times, one person dies from heart disease every minute. Within the field of healthcare, data science is critical for analyzing large amounts of data. Because predicting heart disease is such a difficult task, it is necessary to automate the process in order to prevent the dangers connected with it and to assist health professionals in accurately and rapidly diagnosing heart disease. In this article, an efficient machine learning-based diagnosis system has been developed for the diagnosis of heart disease. The system is designed using machine learning classifiers such as Support Vector Machine (SVM), Nave Bayes (NB), and K-Ne

Postprandial Hyperglycemia as a Significant Risk Factor for Coronary Heart Disease
...Show More Authors

Background: The highest concentrations of
blood glucose during the day are usually found
postprandialy. Postprandial hyperglycemia (PPH)
is likely to promote or aggravate fasting
hyperglycemia. Evidence in recent years suggests
that PPH may play an important role in functional
& structural disturbances in different body organs
particularly the cardiovascular system.
Objective: To evaluate the effect of (PPH) as a
risk factor for coronary Heart disease in Type 2
diabetic patients.
Methods: Sixty-three type2 diabetic patients
were included in this study. All have controlled
fasting blood glucose, with HbA1c correlation.
They were all followed for five months period
(from May to October 2008)

COVID-19 and Alimentary Tract: Current Evidence and Recent Recommendations
...Show More Authors

The pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), first reported in China, in December 2019 and since then the digestive tract involvement of  COVID-19 has been progressively described. In this review, I summed recent studies, which have addressed the pathophysiology of COVID-19-induced gastrointestinal symptoms, their prevalence, and bowel pathological and radiological findings of infected patients. The effects of gut microbiota on SARS-CoV-2 and the challenges of nutritional therapy of the infected patients are depicted.  Moreover, I provide a concise summary of the recommendations on the management of inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, and performing endoscopy in the COVID era. Finally, the COVID pancreatic re

Point of Care testing: The future of periodontal dis-ease diagnosis and monitoring
...Show More Authors

Manual probing and periodontal charting are the gold standard for periodontal diagnosis that have been used in practice over a century. These methods are affordable and reliable but they are associated with some drawbacks that cannot be avoided. Among these issues is their reliance on operator’s skills, time-consuming and tedious procedure, lack sensitivity especially in cases of early bone loss, and causing discomfort to the patient. Availability of a wide range of biomarkers in the oral biofluids, dental biofilm, and tissues that potentially reflect the periodontal health and disease accurately encouraged their use as predictive/diagnostic/monitoring tools. Analysing biomarkers during care-giving to the patient using chairside kits i

Enhancement of Spectrum Sensing Performance via Cooperative Cognitive Radio ‎Networks at Low SNR
...Show More Authors

The inefficient use of spectrum is the key subject to overcome the upcoming spectrum crunch issue. This paper presents a study of performance of cooperative cognitive network via hard combining of decision fusion schemes. Simulation results presented different cooperative hard decision fusion schemes for cognitive network. The hard-decision fusion schemes provided different discriminations for detection levels. They also produced small values of Miss-Detection Probability at different values of Probability of False Alarm and adaptive threshold levels. The sensing performance was investigated under the influence of channel condition for proper operating conditions. An increase in the detection performance was achi

Face mask detection methods and techniques: A review
...Show More Authors

Corona virus sickness has become a big public health issue in 2019. Because of its contact-transparent characteristics, it is rapidly spreading. The use of a face mask is among the most efficient methods for preventing the transmission of the Covid-19 virus. Wearing the face mask alone can cut the chance of catching the virus by over 70\%. Consequently, World Health Organization (WHO) advised wearing masks in crowded places as precautionary measures. Because of the incorrect use of facial masks, illnesses have spread rapidly in some locations. To solve this challenge, we needed a reliable mask monitoring system. Numerous government entities are attempting to make wearing a face mask mandatory; this process can be facilitated by using face m

Enhanced Support Vector Machine Methods Using Stochastic Gradient Descent and Its Application to Heart Disease Dataset
...Show More Authors

Support Vector Machines (SVMs) are supervised learning models used to examine data sets in order to classify or predict dependent variables. SVM is typically used for classification by determining the best hyperplane between two classes. However, working with huge datasets can lead to a number of problems, including time-consuming and inefficient solutions. This research updates the SVM by employing a stochastic gradient descent method. The new approach, the extended stochastic gradient descent SVM (ESGD-SVM), was tested on two simulation datasets. The proposed method was compared with other classification approaches such as logistic regression, naive model, K Nearest Neighbors and Random Forest. The results show that the ESGD-SVM has a
