Two different approaches, univariate and multivariate (simplex method), have been used to obtain the optimum conditions for the quantitative Spectrophotometric determination of Eu3+ using Solochrome violet RS (3-Hydroxy-4-(2-hydroxy phenyl azo) naphthalene -1sulfonic acid) (SVRS) as a chromogenic reagent. The investigation shows that Eu3+ ion forms a wine-red complex with SVRS in alkaline buffer solution having a maximum absorbance at 464 nm against reagent blank. Calibration graphs obtained under univariate and simplex were found to be linear in the range of (0.30-8.0) µg/ml with detection limit 0.061µg/ml and molar absorptivity of 9877.66 L/mol.cm and (0.40-10.0)µg/ml with detection limit 0.055µg/ml and molar absorptivity of 10759.05 L/mol.cm respectively. The stoichiometric composition of the formed Eu-SVRS chelate complex is 1:4 (Metal:Ligand). Effect of the presence of some metal ions as interferences was studied and the method has been applied successfully to the determination of cited ion in synthetic sample.
Charge transfer complex formation method has been applied for the spectrophotometric determination of erythromycin ethylsuccinate, in bulk sample and dosage form. The method was accurate, simple, rapid, inexpensive and sensitive depending on the formed charge- transfer complex between cited drug and, 2,3- Dichloro-5,6-dicyano-p- benzoquinone (DDQ) as a chromogenic reagent. The formed complex shows absorbance maxima at 587 nm against reagent blank. The calibration graph is linear in the ranges of (10 - 110) μg.mL-1 with detection limit of 0.351μg.mL-1. The results show the absence of interferences from the excipients on the determination of the drug. Therefore the proposed method has been successfully applied for the determination of eryth

... Show MoreA simple, new, and sensitive spectrophotometric technique for the determination of methyldopa was presented in this research article. The suggested technique includes reacting metoclopramide with NaNO2 in the presence of hydrochloric acid to produce diazonium salt, and then the drug methyldopa reacts with the diazonium salt to produce a yellow azo dye. The maximum wavelength of the dye was 458 nm. This method is effectively used for the determination of methyldopa in different pharmaceutical formulations. It has been found that there are no significant interactions between common excipients and pure methyldopa. The results were processed statistically, and compared with those obtained from officially approved methods, they were found to be

The analyte has been reacted with bromothymol blue (BTB) to form a colored ion pair which has been extracted in chloroform in a buffer medium of pH=4 of potassium phthalate. The extracted colored product was assayed at 415 nm and exhibited a linear quantification range over (1 - 20) g/ml. The excipients did not exhibit any interferences with the proposed approach for assaying azithromycin in pharmaceutical formulations.
A simple, and rapid spectrophotometric method for the estimation of paracetamol has been developed. The methods is based on diazotisation of 2,4-dichloroaniline followed by a coupling reaction with paracetamol in sodium hydroxide medium. All variables affecting the reaction conditions were carefully studied. Beer's law is obeyed in the concentration range of 4-350 ?gml?1 at 490 nm .The method is successfully employed for the determination of paracetamol in pharmaceutical preparations.
