Levels of Geometrical Thinking of College of Education Ibn AI Haithem Students

The  present    research  is  aimed  to  know  the  levels  of  geometrical thinking of college of education " Ibn Al Haitham students I second class" . The sample of the research consists of ( 50 ) male & female students , that were chosen randomly during  the academic year 2002-2003 .

To verify the aim of the study , the researcher reviewed the previous cognitive literature , and limited his study to the ( comprehending  analytic , ordinal , and inferential ) levels of geometrical thinking .

He  constructed  a  test  that  was  consisted  of  ( 25  )  items  .  The  test  was

presented to a committee of experts in mathematics and methods of teaching math . to assure its validity . The committee agreed on all test items .

A pilot sample consisting of (20) male & female students was chosen from  the  research  population  to confmn  the   reliability  of  the test  . The researcher  used anumber  of statistical  means to analyze data, one of them was building .

The results of the research showed a· clear weakness in the levels of

geometrical  thinking among the research sample and according to this result, there  is  a  need  for  further  research  and  concern  on  quality  of  teaching geometries . This subject develops all levels of geometrical thinking . These results  determine  that  students  were  not  mastering  the  basic  geometrical concepts , although most of those concepts are considered a basic request for the  academic  level  that  was  chosen  for  this  study  .The  researcher  stated many recommendations  one of them was  to improve the quality of teaching geometries  with construction  on its different features that develop levels of different geometrical thinking .The researcher suggested more researches  in this field to be conducted and using samples from different level samples of students.

The Effect of Gamma Radiation on the Manufactured HgBa<sub>2</sub>Ca<sub>2</sub>Cu<sub>2.4</sub>Ag<sub>0.6</sub>O<sub>8+δ</sub> Compound

In this article four samples of HgBa2Ca2Cu2.4Ag0.6O8+δ were prepared and irradiated with different doses of gamma radiation 6, 8 and 10 Mrad. The effects of gamma irradiation on structure of HgBa2Ca2Cu2.4Ag0.6O8+δ samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction. It was concluded that there effect on structure by gamma irradiation. Scherrer, crystallization, and Williamson equations were applied based on the X-ray diffraction diagram and for all gamma doses, to calculate crystal size, strain, and degree of crystallinity. I
