An Emerging Fault Related Fold (Mahad Anticline) and its Morphotectonic Interpretations in Northern Iraq
...Show More Authors

In this study, morphotectonic analyses were prepared for an anticline existing to the north of Maqloub Anticline and extends toward north - south approximately, which is unfamiliar in relation to the major extension of the anticlines in the region. The study involves a structural interpretation of the anticline's origin and its relation with the faulting in the foreland zone in this area, specifically in foothill zone, because of the major fracture that is found adjacent and parallel to the axis of this anticline.

The visual interpretation is the major tool used to determine the features of this anticline. Moreover, some facilitating remote sensing technologies, such as digital processing of satellite images and Digital Elevation

A Lightweight Image Encryption Algorithm Based on Elliptic Curves and a 5D Logistic Map
...Show More Authors

Cryptography can be thought of as a toolbox, where potential attackers gain access to various computing resources and technologies to try to compute key values. In modern cryptography, the strength of the encryption algorithm is only determined by the size of the key. Therefore, our goal is to create a strong key value that has a minimum bit length that will be useful in light encryption. Using elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) with Rubik's cube and image density, the image colors are combined and distorted, and by using the Chaotic Logistics Map and Image Density with a secret key, the Rubik's cubes for the image are encrypted, obtaining a secure image against attacks. ECC itself is a powerful algorithm that generates a pair of p

Anti CD20 Monoclonal Antibody (Rituximab) as a Rescue Treatment in Severe and Refractory SLE
...Show More Authors

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease with polymorphic expression. B cells have an essential contribution in immune system activation via the production of different cytokines and functioning as potent antigen-presenting cells. Therefore, a drug that particularly targets B cells may represent an ideal therapeutic approach for SLE. Rituximab (RTX), an anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody causing transient B-cell depletion, has been used to manage SLE. This study aims to assess Rituximab effects on lupus nephritis (LN) patients when added to conventional immunosuppressants. Twenty four patients, 15-32 years old, with class III/IV/V LN were involved in this study. All were on steroids before lupus nephritis occurrence. They were

Association between MicroRNA-155 Expression and Pro inflammatory Cytokines in Severe Covid-19 Patients
...Show More Authors

Covid-19 is a respiratory disease similar to pneumonia that results from an infection with SARS-CoV-2, a recently identified virus that became a global pandemic in 2020. The severe cases of the disease show a cytokine storm, which is excessive, uncontrolled production of pro inflammatory cytokines. MicroRNA-155 is an epigenetic microRNA that has the ability to control pro-inflammatory responses in many diseases. We aim to determine the relationship between microRNA-155 expression and some cytokines (interleukin-6, interleukin-8, and interleukin-1β) in severe covid-19 cases. A case-control study of 235 samples was collected from 120 patients with severe covid-19 and 115 of mild c
