Obesity Impact on Heart Rate Variability Indices and the Modulation Effect of Regular Physical Activity.
...Show More Authors

Background: Obesity is imposing a growing threat to world health. The autonomic nervous system (ANS) regulates visceral functions via balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions. In the cardiovascular system (CVS) this non stationary balance results in the fluctuation between intervals of consecutive heart beats, so called heart rate variability (HRV). Obesity is one of the causative co-morbid conditions leading to metabolic and cardiac disorders as it is accompanied with varied combinations of abnormalities in the ANS, one view is that obese people have higher sympathetic tone. HRV measures the effect of autonomic function on the heart alone. Therefore, it could be the most useful method to investigate the effect of obesity on CVS as obesity is associated with decreased HRV. Regular physical activity has been shown to increase HRV in healthy individuals. Therefore, exercise training may improve cardiac autonomic regulation in a variety of clinical populations including obese individuals.

Objectives: to assess the alteration in cardiac autonomic function that may be associated with obesity by measuring HRV indices using (Holter monitoring) and to test the hypothesis that regular physical activity is associated with improved HRV.

Methods: A total of 49 asymptomatic obese individuals (28 males, 21 females) were recruited from Obesity Unit in Alkindy College of Medicine/ University of Baghdad.

Holter monitoring was applied to the obese individuals to assess HRV in addition to 47 healthy non-obese subjects of either sex as controls. All participants were subjected to 4-6 weeks moderate intensity of physical activity, and then Holter monitoring was repeated after the end of physical activity. Blood tests were done for all participants to exclude renal, liver and endocrine dysfunctions.

Results: all HRV indices were significantly low in obese subjects (p value less than 0.05) body mass index (BMI) was negatively correlated with overall HRV index (p= 0.0001, r= - 0.87). After onset of regular physical activity, all HRV indices were increased significantly in obese subjects whereas the increase in HRV indices in normal weight subjects did not reach the level of significance.

Conclusion: Obese subjects had a significant lower values of all HRV indices, overall low HRV values usually indicate a relative sympathetic dominance. BMI was negatively correlated with overall HRV index significantly in obese subjects. The significant increment in all HRV values in obese subjects after the onset of regular physical activity indicates a shift of sympathetic/parasympathetic balance towards increased vagal activity, which is a marker for cardiac autonomic modulation that may offset the negative effect of obesity.

Left Ventricle Remodeling for Patients with Heart Failure and its Influence on Cardiac Performance
...Show More Authors

Background: Many cardiac diseases can cause cardiac hypertrophy developed by the established cardiac overload, such as long term of uncontrolled hypertension, valvuler disease or congenital anomaly and many more causes. If the cause of hypertrophy persists for long time it will generate heart failure, as a result changes in size, shape and function of the heart which refer as remodeling.
Objective: To investigate the types of remodeling in patients with heart failure, and study its relation with cardiac performance.
Patients and methods: The study included fifty normal individuals and fifty patients, only those patients who developed hypertrophy and failure were chosen. The study has included the measurements of many cardiac parame

Effect of Urban Expansion Indices Change by (R.S.) on Height of Convective Radix Layer around Baghdad Airport (Iraq)
...Show More Authors

Change in structure of land surface can affect atmospheric boundary layer and formation of internal boundary layer. This will change shear stresses and turbulent boundary layer. Change in low level wind shear and turbulent can affect air craft performance and has potentially adverse effects on flight safety during landing and taking-off stages. In this study, change in land area around Baghdad Airport and its effects on structure of boundary layer and radix layer through summer season (July from years 1985 and 2014) is examined. The examination is done through atmospheric data of radiosonde (at altitude more than 1500 m) and remote sensing by Landsat 5 and 8 images (circular region around airport has radius 3.250 km and the airpor

The Effect of the Solution Heat Treatment on the Mechanical Properties of Aluminum-Copper Alloy (2024-T3) Using Rolling Process
...Show More Authors

The effect of solution heat treatment on the mechanical properties of Aluminum-Copper alloy. (2024-T3) by the rolling process is investigated. The solution heat treatment was implemented by heating the sheets to 480 C° and quenching them by water; then forming by rolling for many passes. And then natural aging is done for one month. Mechanical properties (tensile strength and hardness) are evaluated and the results are compared with the metal without treatment during the rolling process. ANSYS analysis is used to show the stresses distribution in the sheet during the rolling process.  It has been seen that good mechanical properties are evident in the alloy without heat treatment due to the strain hardening and also the mechanical

The results of the study showed the statistical significant difference (P≥0.05) for each of the relative weight of the yolk and egg whites, the relative weight of the shell and the Hauh unit, which is affected positively by the addition of ground fenugreek seed and Laurels leave to the quail bird's diet. There is also a statistically significant difference positively for each of the percentage of ash, protein and carbohydrates for qualis egg, while there is no significant difference for both the percentage of moisture and fat. The results of the mineral estimation showed an increase in each of the elements of iron, copper and cadmium from the addition of fenugreek and laurels leave, while there was no significant difference for

Abstract<p>Let R be a ring with identity and let M be a left R-module. M is called J-semiregular module if every cyclic submodule of M is J-lying over a projective summand of M, The aim of this paper is to introduce properties of J-semiregular module Especially, we give characterizations of J-semiregular module. On the other hand, the notion of J-semi hollow modules is studied as a generalization of semi hollow modules, finally F-J-semiregular modules is studied as a generalization of F-semiregular modules.</p> ... F-Approximately Regular Modules
...Show More Authors

We introduce in this paper the concept of an approximately pure submodule as a     generalization of a pure submodule, that is defined by Anderson and Fuller. If every submodule of an R-module  is approximately pure, then  is called F-approximately regular. Further, many results about this concept are given.

An R-module M is called a 2-regular module if every submodule N of M is 2-pure submodule, where a submodule N of M is 2-pure in M if for every ideal I of R, I2MN = I2N, [1]. This paper is a continuation of [1]. We give some conditions to characterize this class of modules, also many relationships with other related concepts are introduced.
