Determination of Heavy Metals in Imported Canned Fish that Sold in Baghdad Markets

The concentrations of Pb, Zn, Hg and Cu were determined in twenty sample of canned fish, samples were collected with different origin with two meals from local markets at Baghdad city for the period (October 2012-February 2013),results of study were appeared variation in mercury concentration of canned fish between November and February .The highest concentration of mercury (0.1 mg/kg) was observed in “Hawesta” brand and “Ocean wave” ” brand , the lowest average concentration for mercury 0.01ppm in “Habar”,”Durra” and ”Sayad” brand during( Nov.2012-Feb.2013 ) and have not recorded any concentration for mercury in “Yasmine” brand during (Nov. 2012-Feb. 2013).The maximum level of zinc reached in November. rather than in Febreuary ,Zn concentration varied from (6.46-18.6 mg/kg ) and the lowest concentration of Zn in canned fish from (0.010 - 0.370mg/kg). The results findings acceptable limit with Iraq standard.In this study we showed the concentration of copper varied from (0.073-10.216 mg/kg) .The highest concentration of copper (10.216mg/kg) was observed in “Habar” brand the lowest concentration of copper (0.073mg/kg) was observed in “Durra” brand , “Founty”and”Herring fillets” were recorded 0.19 mg/kg and 0.16 mg/kg.

Determination of some heavy metals in canned Sardines fish from Iraqi markets

present in the environment could constitute a hazard to food security and public health. These can be accumulated in aquatic animals such as fish.
Objective: In this study, selected heavy metals: Copper (Cu), Nickle (Ni), Chromium (Cr) and Iron (Fe) were evaluated in commercial canned fish products (Sardines) that are commonly consumed in Iraq. DETECTION OF HEAVY METALS POLLUTION INTYPES OF MILK SAMPLES IN BAGHDAD MARKETS: DETECTION OF HEAVY METALS POLLUTION INTYPES OF MILK SAMPLES IN BAGHDAD MARKETS

The levels of lead (pb), copper (cu), cobalt (co) and cadmium (cd) were determined in different kinds of milk and the health risks were evaluated. The mean levels were 0.73±0.21, 0.06±0.01, 0.12±0.01 and 0.14±0.01 ppm for these metals respectively. The levels of pb and cu were found to be insignificant differences (p<0.05), whereas the levels of co and cd, were no significant differences (p>0.05). The dry and liquid kinds of milk were different significantly (p<0.05), whereas the original, was no significant differences (p>0.05). The values for all metals were more than one. The metals pb and cd were detected at highest concentrations in most dry and liquid milk samples.

The objective of this study is to determination the content of some heavy metals (lead, cadmium, chromium) in colored tattoo stickers. twelve kinds of colored tattoo stikcers were collected from Baghdad markets, it was estimated heavy metals using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (Shimadzu A5000). The results indicated the concentrations of lead in all samples (1.61_1.00 mg / kg) and chromium in the three samples (0.85_0.97 mg / kg) while other samples are free of chromium , and cadmium. Detection of some heavy metals and bacterial contamination in canned vegetables

In this paper, thirty six samples of canned vegetables were collected randomly from
different markets in Baghdad city from October 2013 till March 2014. The study
includes identifying the concentration of some heavy metals (lead, nickel, zinc and iron)
by flameless atomic absorption spectrophotometery. It was found that the higher
concentrations of heavy metals in canned vegetables, was lead 1.179 ppm in olive,
nickel 0.9078 ppm in olive, while zinc 10.143 ppm green peas and iron 90.601ppm in

The study was carried out to study the quality of 7 samples of imported frozen chicken that are available in locally markets. These samples were collected from Baghdad markets in June 2010. The results were showed that the all samples were not content the name of company and batch number one the labeling, while the microbial test refer to found contamination in all samples, but it in the limited of Iraqi standers specification for frozen chicken, also note Staphylococcus aureus in all samples, the samples C1 and C2 have Salmonella ohio, while not observe Coliform bacteria in all samples.

Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry Analysis of Heavy Metals in Some Food Additives Available in Baghdad Markets, Iraq

Flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer (FAAS) was used in this study to determine the concentrations of heavy metals such as Ca, Fe, Mn, Cd, Co, Cr, Ni, Cu, Pb and Zn in some food additives of Iraq. The order of metal contents in food additives was found to be Ca ˃ Mn ˃ Fe ˃ Cu ˃ Zn ˃ Pb ˃ Cr ˃ Ni ˃ Co ˃ Cd. The concentration level of each metal was compared with that recommended by food agriculture organisation (FAO) and world health organisation (WHO). Calibration curves were linear for all standard solutions of heavy metals in the range starting from 0.02-0.4 mg/kg for Cd to 11-100 mg/kg for Ca.     Most marshes in Iraq face several challenges as aquatic environments, including pollution by various chemical agents and heavy metals. The current study deal with an analysis of the water quality of Dalmaj marsh as one of the closed aquatic environments in the middle parts of Iraq located between latitudes 32ᵒ 05′ to 32ᵒ 23′N and longitudes 45ᵒ 10′ to 45ᵒ 38′ E.
