Study the Effect Different Radioactive Dose on Mechanical Properties of Composite Material from Novolak Resin Exposure to High – Energy Radiation

The research involves using phenol – formaldehyde (Novolak) resin as matrix for making composite material, while glass fiber type (E) was used as reinforcing materials. The specimen of the composite material is reinforced with (60%) ratio of glass fiber.

The impregnation method is used in test sample preparation, using molding by pressure presses.

All samples were exposure to (Co60) gamma rays of an average energy (2.5)Mev. The total doses were (208, 312 and 728) KGy.

The mechanical tests (bending, bending strength, shear force, impact strength and surface indentation) were performed on un irradiated and irradiate samples.

All of the mechanical properties were improved with an increase in radioactive dose of up to (312) KGy to be decreased afterwards.

The topography of some physically tested specimens was studied using optical microscopy.

Mechanical Properties Investigation of Composite Material Under Different Parameters Variations

The main objective of this research is to design and select a composite plate to be used in fabricating wing skins of light unman air vehicle (UAV). The mechanical properties, weight and cost are the basis criteria of this selection. The fiber volume fraction, fillers and type of fiber with three levels for each were considered to optimize the composite plate selection. Finite element method was used to investigate the stress distribution on the wing at cruise flight condition in addition to estimate the maximum stress. An experiments plan has been designed to get the data on the basis of Taguchi technique. The most effective parameters at the process to be find out by employing L9

Study the effect of microbial factor on the qualities and characteristics of Novolak composite material, reinforced glass fibers / Asbestos fibers.

The study was reflection of the impact of the widespread use of polymer Novolak composite reinforced  Glass fiber and Asbestos fiber once again with weight fraction 60% on the physical properties, which included (Hardness, Compressive deformation, compressive modulus of elasticity, Flexural modulus of elasticity, Resilience modulus, the maximum of Flexural strength, Flexural strain energy and Shear strength inner layers); it is known how much important the media as a source of bacterial contamination, which contributes directly or indirectly in the process of aging of these materials. These Novolak composite reinforced,  prepared by weight fraction of (10%) and (14%) of the Hexamethylene-tetraamine (HMTA) hardener material. It

UV-Exposure effect on the mechanical properties of PEO/PVA blends

Poly ethylene oxide PEO / Poly vinyl alcohol PVA  blends were prepared by cast method at different ratios of (25%PEO/75%PVA, 30%PEO/70%PVA, 35%PEO/65%PVA, 40%PEO/60%PVA, and 50%PEO/505PVA). Samples miscibility ,and thermal stability were studied  by using differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),and thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) analysis. The results proved that there was one glass transition temperature (Tg=160°C) at 25%PEO\PVA ratio
)that was attributed to its miscibility. This miscibility associated with (Hydrogen  bonds) between (Hydroxyl group) in PVA, and PEO, whereas there were two glass transition temperature for the blends ratio more than 30%PEO,that was due its immisc

Measuring the concentrations of natural radioactive isotopes and radiation dose rates for Missan Province

This research included measuring the concentrations of natural radioactive isotopes U-238 and Th-232 and radiation dose rates for selected areas of Missan province, GR-460 system was used which has the potential to measure the concentrations of natural radioactive isotopes in (ppm) unit and measuring the radiation dose rates in μR/h unit. It was also used with the system the mobile device FH-40 which measures the radiation dose rates in units μSμ/h the measurement results showed the absence of a significant increase in the U-238 and Th-232 concentration where the concentration of isotopes of U-238 and natural Th-232 (3.35-5.46) ppm respectively it is authorized and universally accepted. In terms of radiation dose rates it ranged betwe

Study the Effect of Addition of Some Oxides on the Mechanical properties on Unsaturated Polyester Resin Compsites

This study included preparation for the unsaturated polyester samples before and after reinforced by Alumina oxide powder and copper oxide powder of different volume fraction amounting (3%,5%,8%). And this reearch included study of some of mechanical properties such as (hardness, compressive and wear). The results showed that increase of the hardness and compressive strength after the reinforced and increase with the volume fraction increase. As the wear test show that the wear rate increases with applied load from the different load(5,10,15)N,and the wear rate decreases with the volume fraction increase.

Effect of immersion in chemical solution on the mechanical & physical properties for composite material reinforced by Nano alumina Particles

In this research Epoxy resin was reinforced by nano alumina (AL2O3) particles in grain size(25-30 nm) with two weight ratios (2,4)% then compared with pure Epoxy. Four mechanical tests were performed on these materials include Hardness, flexural, impact & compression strengths before and after immersion in tap water and chemical solutions (CH3COOH) acid, (KOH) base at (0.5N) ,The diffusivity coefficients of all prepared samples were calculate after immersion in water and chemical solutions mentioned above , the results were showed that the Flexural, Impact & Hardness increase after addition the ceramic particles (AL2O3) while the immersion process results showed illustrated different values from sample to other.

Study the Effect of Temperature on Structural, Mechanical and Thermal Properties of PVC/CaCO3 Composite

In the present study, the structural properties which included the X-rays diffraction, and DSC, the mechanical properties, which include tensile test, threepoint bending test (Bending Test), hardness test and thermal conductivity of the polymers reinforced with calcite (PVC/CaCO3) at different temperature (25-40-80-
120-160-200-220) °C. The research results showed that the XC degree of X-ray diffraction decreased at high temperatures (220 ˚C), while the inter-polymerized polymer (PVC / CaCO3) increased at high temperatures. The DSC test results showed that the degree of crystallinity (XC) decreases at high temperatures (220 ˚C). The mechanical test results, their values were found to decrease at (

Effect of different variables on asphalt mechanical properties

Permanent deformation (rutting) of asphalt mixtures is one of the major forms of distress. Aggregate gradation is one of the most important factors affecting the permanent deformation of asphalt mixtures. Other variables are also important to understand their effects on the mixture such as temperature, binder content and compaction level. For this purpose 6 different aggregate gradations have been chosen and each one of them has been manufactured / tested with different variables. The results showed that at relatively low temperature there is little effect of aggregate packing on the permanent deformation. However, as the temperature increases the effect of gradation becomes apparent, in that the better the packing the better the resistance
