Analysis of radio-opacity, surface roughness, and wettability of calcium carbonate nanoparticle-reinforced three-dimensional printed acrylic resin
...Show More Authors
Background

Additive manufacturing (3D-printed) technology is a major advancement in prosthodontics, offering efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and the production of high-quality prostheses. Nanoparticles have been included in three-dimensional (3D) printed denture bases to enhance their physico-mechanical and biological characteristics. This work aims to examine the influences of adding calcium carbonate nanoparticles to 3D-printed denture base resins on their radio-opacity, wettability, and surface roughness.

Material and method

Ninety specimens were split into three groups: two modified groups (1.5 and 2 weight percent CaCO 3 NPs) and one control group (unmodified group). Three identical subgroups for the radiopacity test, surface roughness, and wettability test were formed from each concentration (n = 10). Additionally, the chemical composition of the 3D resin was also investigated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to see if the addition of calcium carbonate nanoparticles changed it, and the surface topography of 3D-printed acrylic specimens was compared using atomic force microscopy (AFM).

Result

Results revealed a significant improvement in the radio-opacity, wettability, and surface roughness (p < 0.05) after adding calcium carbonate nanoparticles to the 3D-printed denture base resin.

Conclusion

The specimens with 2% wt. of CaCO 3 NPs showed the greatest increase in radio-opacity. While specimens containing 1.5% wt. CaCO 3 NPs showed lower surface roughness and higher wettability.

Effect of incorporating calcium carbonate nanoparticles on the mechanical properties of 3D-printed acrylic resin
...Show More Authors

Denture base materials made using three-dimensional printing (3D printing) have expanded in availability, contributing to the meteoric rise of this innovative dental technique. Despite 3D-printed denture resins having good biocompatibility and esthetics, achieving superior mechanics in these materials is still difficult. This study aimed to find out how adding calcium carbonate (CaCO 3 ) nanoparticles to 3D-printed denture base resin affected its surface hardness, impact strength, and flexural strength. The ninety 3D printed samples were allocated into three groups following the amount of CaCO 3

Effect of Nd:YAG Laser Surface Treatment on Wettability of Thermoplastic Acrylic in Comparison with Heat-Cure Acrylic resin
...Show More Authors

Aim of the study: This study's goal was to determine how laser surface alteration affected wettability of injectable thermoplastic acrylic and heat cure acrylic denture base materials. Materials and methods: Injectable thermoplastic acrylic resin (Deflex) and heat cure acrylic (Procryla) were used in this study to produce forty-disc shaped specimens, 20 specimens for each material type. The control group was made up of ten samples of each type of plastic denture base material. The other ten samples were treated with a nano-pulse fiber-optic lens Nd:YAG laser. The results were looked at with the Kruskal-Wallis test and the unpaired t-test (a=.05). Results: Compared to the control groups, the laser-treated groups were more likely to sti

Effect of tea tree oil on candida adherence and surface roughness of heat cure acrylic resin
...Show More Authors

Background: Denture cleansing was an important step that could prevent the spread of infection and improve a patient's health, the durability of the dentures, and the overall quality of life; therefore, it was necessary to choose a suitable cleanser that, in addition to being effective, did not have an unfavorable effect on the qualities of the denture base resin itself when used for an extended period. For this purpose, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of tea tree oil (TTO) on Candida albicans adhesion and the surface roughness property of poly(methyl methacrylate) denture material after immersion in TTO. Methods: A total of 55 heat-cured acrylic resin specimens were used for C. albicans adherence and surface roughness tests. The

Aim: To evaluate the commercial pure titanium disks that structuring by laser in two design (dot and groove) each one with three different laser scan (5, 15 and 25) and comparing with titanium surface that not subjected to any surface structuring (control) through measuring the wettability test and surface roughness test. Materials and methods: Structuring on the surface of the commercial pure titanium (CP Ti) disks was performed via using fiber laser CNC machine in two design (dot and groove) in three different laser scans (5, 15 and 25), then the structuring disks analyzed with the control group by atomic force microscope and water contact angle test. Results: The results of this study showed that the surface roughness and the wettability

Methodology: Sixty specimens were prepared from pink heat cure acrylic resin, the specimens
where grouped into; 20 specimens which polished with pumice and water (control group); 20
specimens which polished with investment material (after burning it) and water; and 20 specimens
which polished with black sand and water. The average surface roughness of specimens after
polishing procedure had been determined by profilometer (surface roughness tester).

Influence of Sandblasting on Surface Roughness and Shear Bond Strength of Silicone Soft Liner Applied to 3D Printed Acrylic Denture Bases Material
...Show More Authors

Removable dental prostheses remain a reliable treatment for edentulous patients. Conventional fabrication requires multiple steps, whereas computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD-CAM), particularly 3D printing, offers faster and more cost-effective alternatives. This in vitro study aimed to evaluate the effect of sandblasting on surface roughness and shear bond strength of silicone soft liner bonded to 3D-printed and heat-cured acrylic denture base materials. Eighty specimens were divided into four groups: heat-cured control, 3D-printed control, heat-cured sandblasted, and 3D-printed sandblasted. Surface roughness was measured using a profilometer, while shear bond strength was tested with a universal testing machine. D

Wettability Alteration of Carbonate Rocks via Nanoparticle-Anionic Surfactant Flooding at Reservoirs Conditions
...Show More Authors

Nanofluids, liquid suspensions of nanoparticles (NPs) dispersed in deionized (DI) water, brine, or surfactant micelles, have become a promising solution for many industrial applications including enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and carbon geostorage. At ambient conditions, nanoparticles can effectively alter the wettability of the strongly oil-wet rocks to water-wet. However, the reservoir conditions present the greatest challenge for the success of this application at the field scale. In this work, the performance of anionic surfactant-silica nanoparticle formulation on wettability alteration of oil-wet carbonate surface at reservoir conditions was investigated. A high-pressure temperature vessel was used to apply nano-modification of oil-wet
