The objectives of this paper was the development of a novel ligand, L, which was achieved in two stages: ligand is synthesised by reducing the result of the reaction between cyclohexane-1,2-diamine and 4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxycy clohexane-1-carbaldehyde, followed by the production of the 4,4’-((1E,1’E)-(1,2 phenylenebis(azanylylidene))bis(methanylylidene))bis(2,6-dimethoxyphenol) precursor (P). While studying corrosion inhibition (copper alloy) in acid solution by weight loss, compounds were characterised using 1H, 13CNMR (for ligand (L) and (P)), FT-IR and UV spectra, melting point, molar conductivity, %C, %H and %N, %M, and magnetic susceptibility. The complex’s octahedral structure is inferred from the bidentate coordination of the metal ion. The molar ratio of type [Pt(L)Cl2 (H2 O)2 ] seemed to be 1:1(M:L). Using the weight loss method, the corrosion inhibitory ef fects of the platinum complex on copper alloy in a nitric acid solution (0.5 M HNO3 ) were studied. Adsorption of inhibitor molecules onto the surface of the copper alloy was the primary mechanism by which corrosion activity was reduced and active sites were blocked. The results demonstrated that the efficacy of inhibition was improved with increasing inhibitor concentrations. The inhibitor had its maximum inhibitory effectiveness of 97.5% at a concentration of 700 ppm. Calculated values of the Gibbs free energy corroborated with the results of adsorption investigations, which showed that the process mostly included physical adsorption and Langmuir adsorption iso therm. The development of protective coatings was validated by scanning electron microscopy analyses of surface morphology.
Protection study of the corrosion behavior of Copper surface was conducted with several concentrations of drug. Experimentally, voltammetric measurements were used to check the inhibition eciency (% IE) in saline solution of 3.5% NaCl. The results showed an increase in the inhibition eciency with increasing the concentration of the drug was 95.90%. Theoretical treatment of the drug in the gas phase was performed using the (hyperchem-8.07) program for molecular mechanics and semi-empirical computations. The (PM3) approach was used to determine the heat of formation (1H°f), binding energy (1Eb), and total energ

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of different inhibitors on the corrosion rate of aluminum in 50% (v/v) ethylene glycol solution at 80°C and pH 8.0 in which the electrochemical technique of linear sweep voltammetry was employed to characterize each inhibitor function and to calculate the corrosion rate from Tafel plots generated by a computer assisted potentiostat.
It is found that both sodium dichromate and borax reduces the corrosion rate by polarizing the anodic polarization curve while sodium phosphate, potassium phosphate, and sodium benzoate reduces the corrosion rate by polarizing both the anodic and cathodic polarization curve.

Electrochemical polarization method using potentiostatic technique was employed. The inhibition efficiency has been raised with increased sulphamethoxazole concentration but lessened at temperature increases. The highest efficiency value was 96.5 at 298 K and 2 x10-4 mol.dm-3 concentration of sulphamethoxazole. The sulphamethoxazole adsorption was agreed with Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Show MoreThe driving idea for the present work was to combine the effect of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as corrosion inhibitor with the distance between the anodic and cathodic elements of the galvanic cell, beside their area ratio, in scope of synergistic suppression of galvanic corrosion on Cu/Fe model couple, using weight loss method. The performance affecting galvanic corrosion process has been tested for three major factors affect the process:
1. Four PVA inhibitor concentrations were selected to be (0, 1000, 4000 and 7000 ppm) in simulated cooling water.
2. Two cathode: anode area ratios as 1:1 and 2.4:1.
3. Two distances apart cathode – anode as 3 and 7 cm.
Maximum corrosion inhibition achieved was 86% which indicates that increa

Synthesis three organic inhibitors for carbon steel corrosion: 2-(propylthio)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole (PTBI), 2-(allylthio)- 1H-benzo[d]imidazole (ATBI) and 2-(prop-2-ynylthio)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole (YTBI) were prepared from reaction of 2-mercapto benzimidazole with different alkyl halide. The melting point and TLC were used to confirm the purity of the inhibitors as well as using the [FTIR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR] for the identify structures.
