The Effect of Aqueous Extract of Quercus infectoria Plant on Pap E gene Expression of Uropathogenic Escherichia coli
...Show More Authors

One hundred twelve urine samples were collected from Baghdad hospitals and examined by different identification techniques. Seventy isolates (62.5%) were diagnosed as Escherichia coli after microscopic and cultural identifications. The result of PCR product electrophoresis on the isolates showed that thirteen isolates (18.57%) have Pap E gene which are uropathogenic E. coli. Antibiotic susceptibility test was done, and four high resistant strains were mixed with aqueous extract of Quercus infectoria plant in 96 well ELISA plate and incubated for different times. After 0, 6, and 12 hr. of incubation, the effect of the plant extract on the bacterial growth was determined by ELISA reader, and the effect on the expression of P

Evaluation of Inhibitory Efficiency for Some Aqueous and Alcoholic Extracts of Cumin, Fenugreek, Sweet Fennel and Black Cumin in Growth of Escherichia Coli and Staphylococcus Aureus Bacteria
...Show More Authors

A factorial experiment was conducted at the laboratories of the College of Agriculture – Kerbala University during 2016. The aim was inhibitory efficiency for some aqueous and alcoholic extracts of Cumin, Fenugreek, Sweet Fennel and Black cumin in growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Results of Lab the extracts alcoholic, Concentrations 10, and 20 μg/ml giving to the highest percentage of inhibition from water extracts for both types of bacteria. Alcoholic extract of cumin highest percentage inhibition and concentration reached 23 and 26 mm, respectively, for the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus, while the bacteria Escherichia coli giving the alcoholic extract of the concentration of 20 μg/ml

Antibiotic Resistant Gene Exchanged Between Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus
...Show More Authors

Escherichia coli  infections are becoming difficult treated because of extensive resistance to antibiotic among these organisms and manufacturing extended-spectrum beta lactamases enzymes (ESBLs) make them resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics. This study aims to offer a summary of the main horizontal transmission  apparatuses  between E. coli as well as  Staphylococcus aureus and emergence resistance to antibiotics. Fifty of the E. coli and  50 of S. aureus isolates were examined to obtain minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) results. These isolates were then tested by  conventional polymerase chain-reaction for the existence or absenc

New Mutations in GyrA Gene of Escherichia Coli Isolated form Iraqi Patients
...Show More Authors

The present study included a collecting of 165 specimens form different sources,
93 isolates were identified as Escherichia coli depending on morphological and
biochemical tests in addition to automated systems such as VITEK 2 and api 20E.
All isolates under study developed high resistance toward cefotaxime, ceftazidime,
ceftriaxone, and ciprofloxacin estimated by minimum inhibitory concentration. Stool
and wound specimens characterized by harbouring the highest resistant isolates in a
percentage reached 100% against antibiotics under study. Insignificant differences
were found between isolates collected from males and females. Upon using disk
displacement method to detect extended spectrum beta lactamases (ESBL),

The influence of Cinnamomum zeylanicum in plant tissue culture experiments of Gardenia jasmenoides Ellis
...Show More Authors

Cinnamon plant is considered one of important medicinal plants because it is rich with many active compounds. This research is aimed to study possible effects of extract in culture media of Gardenia jasmenoides. Alcoholic extract was prepared from the bark of cinnamon at different concentrations (0.0, 1.0, 2.0) mg/L, then added to culture media to notice the effect of these concentrations on the growth and development of tissues and organs of Gardenia jasmenoides Ellis in vitro. Results showed the positive effect of increasing callus fresh weight and shoot proliferation from single nodes with presence of plant regulators, 5.0 mg/L Naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) and 3.0 mg/L Benzyl adenine (BA). Results showed that extract has a slight eff

Molecular Study of Regulatory Gene (Ler) in Enteropathogenic Escherichia Coli (EPEC) of Diarrheagenic Patients
...Show More Authors

The locus of enterocyte effacement LEE-encoded regulator (Ler( is a global regulator of multiple virulence genes expression in the Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC), including those encoding the type III secretion pathway and adhesion proteins such as intimin. Ler is central to the process of the formation of the attaching and effacing (AE) lesions. This study aimed to perform the molecular detection of Ler gene in EPEC, since there is no related previous study in Iraq. Two hundred and fifty stool specimens from children under two years of age for both sexes were collected from some Iraqi hospitals. All isolates were diagnosed according to morphological characteristics and biochemical tests. The results showed th

Amplification and cloning the gene of bovine leukocyte α-A-interferon in cells of Escherichia Coli
...Show More Authors

Interferon’s plays a role in innate immune responses through upregulation of costimulatory molecules and induction of proinflammatory cytokines. Interferon alpha (IFN α) type of Interferons. The present study characterized IFNα cDNA . The interferon’s play a great role in protection from infections, caused by microorganisms, and have powerful antiproliferative and immunomodulation activity. In this study DNA was isolated from bovine blood leukocyte, which was used in the quality of matrix for amplification of α-interferon gene with the use of PCR, and isolation of gene α-interferon and transformation in vector pUC18 and expression vector pET24b (+). All plasmids contained an additional DNA fragment size corresponding to the gene

Antibacterial activity of Rosmarinus officinalis and Dodonaea viscosa leaves extracts against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus
...Show More Authors

The isolates from urine and synovial fluid samples of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria were isolated and identified, in order to study alternative treatment or antibacterial agents of plant extracts from Rosmarinus officinalis and Dodonaea viscosa plants. The isolates were identified by using cultural and biochemical tests, in addition to API 20E kit as confirmation test. The results exhibited that Rosemary extract prevents the biofilm formation and causes inhibition to bacterial growth, while the doddonia extract causes antibacterial activity on the tested bacteria.

Interactions of Black and Green Tea Water Extracts with Antibiotics Activity in Local Urinary Isolated Escherichia coli
...Show More Authors

total of 17 Escherichia coli isolates were collected from urine specimens of patients with urinary tract infection. Antibiotics sensitivity test indicated that amikacin followed by chloramphenicol and ciprofloxacin are the most effective antibiotics. The isolates showed multidruge resistant, nine isolates were resistant to 11-15 antibiotics, 3 were resistant to 16-20 antibiotics and 5 were resistant to 21-25 antibiotic. Two isolates were selected, the first (ED1) was resistant to (22) antibiotics while the second isolate (ED2) was resistant to (14) antibiotics (out of 25). Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the black and green tea water boiled extracts were determined towards (ED1,ED2).Results showed that MIC of black tea extr
