Antibacterial activity of ferrocene-derived multi-walled carbon nanotubes synthesized by chemical vapor deposition against Escherichia coli
...Show More Authors

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were synthesized by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) using ferrocene as the carbon and iron-catalyst precursor and were evaluated for antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli ATCC 25,922. The as-grown material was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The characterization results confirmed the formation of graphitized multi-walled nanotube structures and the presence of iron-containing residues derived from the ferrocene precursor. Antibacterial activity was assessed by agar well diffusion, broth microdilution, and viable-count plating. A concentration-dependent reduction in bacterial growth was observed over the tested range of 1–512 µg/mL. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was determined to be 256 µg/mL based on the absence of visible bacterial growth, with blank-corrected quantitative measurements providing supplementary confirmation of the inhibitory endpoint. Viable-count analysis on drug-free Mueller–Hinton agar showed no recoverable colonies at 256 and 512 µg/mL, supporting a minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of 256 µg/mL under the experimental conditions. In the agar well-diffusion assay, inhibition-zone diameters were 26, 21, 19, 9, and 7 mm at 512, 256, 128, 64, and 32 µg/mL, respectively, whereas no inhibition was observed in the negative control. These findings demonstrate concentration-dependent antibacterial activity of the as-grown ferrocene-derived MWCNT preparation against E. coli ATCC 25,922. Because the material was evaluated without post-synthesis purification, the observed activity represents the response to the as-grown preparation, including potential contributions from synthesis-derived components.

Functionalization of single and multi-walled carbon nanotubes by chemical treatment
...Show More Authors

In this work we experimentally investigated SWCNTs and MWCNTs to increase their thermal conductivity and electrically functionalization process using different reagents ((nitric acid, HNO3 followed by acid treatment with H2SO4), then washed with deionized water (DW) and then treated with H2O2 via ultrasonic technique. Then repeated the steps with MWCNTs and compare their results in an effort to improve experimental conditions that efficiently differentiate the surface of the single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and multi walled carbon nanotubesi(MWCNTs) that less nanotubes destroy and to enhance the properties of them and also to reduce aggregation in liquid. the results were prove by XRD, and infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The FTIR sp

Evaluation of Antibacterial Activity of Laurus nobilis Leaves Extract against Escherichia coli Isolates
...Show More Authors

The aim of this study is to evaluating the antibacterial activity of Laurus nobilis leaves extract on E. coli isolates. Maceration and Soxhlet apparatus were used to prepare aqueous and methanolic extracts; total phenolic content and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) were conducted to determine the active compounds in the extracts. The results showed that both Laurus nobilis methanolic and aqueous extracts have a noticeable effect on scavenging free radicals. Free radical scavenging activity. The total phenolic contents were 28.60 ±0.12 and 16.58 ±0.11mg/g in 50 mg/ml, in methanolic and aqueous extracts respectively. The antibacterial activity of Laurus nobilis leaves extracts showed that the methanolic extract was more effective than

Structural and Infrared Spectroscopy of Polyvinylpyrrolidone/Multi-walled Carbon Nanotubes Nanocomposite
...Show More Authors

In this work, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)/ Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) nanocomposites were prepared with two concentrations of MWCNTs by casting method. Morphological, structural characteristics and electrical properties were investigated. The state of MWCNTs dispersion in a PVP matrix was indicated by Field Effect-Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) which showed a uniform dispersion of MWCNTs within the PVP matrix. X-ray Diffraction (XRD) indicate strong bonding of carbonyl groups of PVP composite chains with MWCNTs. Fourier transfer infrared (FTIR) studies shows characteristics of various stretching and bending vibration bands, as well as shifts in some band locations and intensity changes in others. Hall effect was stu

Abstract
Multi-walled carbon nanotubes from cheap tubs company MWCNT-CP were purified by alcohol \ H2O2 \ separation funnel which is simple, easy and scalable techniques. The steps of purification were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy SEM with energy dispersive of X-ray spectroscopy EDX and surface area measurements. The technique was succeeded to remove most the trace element from MWCNT-CP which causing increase the surface area. The ratios of impurities were reduced to less 0.6% after treatment by three steps with losing less than 5% from MWCNT-CP.

Preparation and Characterization of Polyvinylpyrrolidone/Multi-walled Carbon Nanotubes Nanocomposite hybrid with Graphene
...Show More Authors

In this work, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) nanocomposite was prepared and hybrid with Graphene (Gr) by casting method. The morphological and optical properties were investigated. Fourier Transformer-Infrared (FT-IR) indicates the presence of primary distinctive peaks belonging to vibration groups that describe the prepared samples. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) images showed a uniform dispersion of graphene within the PVP-MWCNT nanocomposite. The results of the optical study show decrease in the energy gap with increasing MWCNT and graphene concentration. The absorption coefficient spectra indicate the presence of two absorption peaks at 282 and 287 nm attributed to the π-π* electronic tr

Comparison between Biological Activities of Commercial and Synthesized Carbon Nanotubes by Flame Fragments Deposition Technique
...Show More Authors

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were synthesized via liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as precursor using flame fragments deposition (FFD) technique. In vitro, biological activates of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) synthesized by FFD technique were investigated. The physiochemical characterizations of synthesized CNTs are similar to other synthesized CNTs and to the standard sample. Pharmaceutical application of synthesized CNTs was studied via conjugation and adsorption with different types of medicines as promote groups. The conjugation of CNTs was performed by adsorption the drugs such as sulfamethoxazole (SMX) and trimethoprim (TMP) on CNTs depending on physical properties of both bonded parts. The synthesized CNTs almost have the same performance in a
